Noticed SPH has bought back shares in last few sessions. This imo is not good. Feel the management is in need of overhaul.

Fears of Trump's Border Adjustment Tax Go Global

1/27/2017 5:19AM

Changes to the U.S. tax code are prompting fears of global stagflation and a debt crisis in emerging markets.

SPH recently bought more % in Chinatown point. I suspect they will continue to raise their shareholdings in the next 3 years in real estate/malls to diversify from their 154, sorry,i mean media business.

Need for work cos in a ulu faraway place...always got to go site for meeting .... but can claim miles....the time saved and convenience plus the bonus of the claimed miles which is typically more than what you expended...

Car is really a waste of money.... but I'm driving as well... work hard, play hard, save hard, invest hard, enjoy hard... why not if you can afford. :)

Assuming you buy a 1.5L fuel efficient jap car like vezel or mazda 3, downpayment 40k, take 60k loan for 5 years,

Installament = 1.1k/mth
Insurance = 2k/yr (assuming late 20s or early 30s with 0% NCD)
road tax = 680/yr
petrol = 200-300/mth
parking (HDB) = 108/mth

plus misc charges (eg. ERP, season parking for office, parking at other areas etc) your total monthly upkeep is abt 500-700 per mth excluding installment, repair, servicing & modification...

If possible get 5 yrs free servicing and warranty so you can save on servicing fees, but still need to fork out for consumables (eg. car batt, tyre, transmission fluid, wiper blade etc.)
