Travelling getaway is part of my routine since 4 yrs ago. Every yr end I will book all my 4 next yr travel flight/accommodation to either Thailand/Indo without missing. Occassionally HK/Macau if price within means :s8:

for me the thinking is, go a 2-3k holiday trip.. I rather buy 2000 shares of CMT

India has coders that are cheaper than you. Vietnam is growing its own "Silicon Valley". SG doesn't even have a silicone valley.

I do it as part of my job, but I feel that it is something that is useful for personal use. I think knowing scripting via Perl or Python can be useful for building your own programs to monitor stock prices.

Seriously, I sometimes wish that I have a great idea for fintech and run away from my present work...

singapore new silicon valley is jurong LOL LOL LOL

The Starbucks near my office always has students from the nearby JC (and secondary school!)...

A few things I learned:

1. Never let your kids know how much you have, and let them think that you are not very well off. Enough to put food on the table but not indulge. They should only know when it is clear that they are fiscally prudent, and financially literate.

2. Train them to save money for you. Do not give in to pleas for "top up".

3. Let them learn how to build their portfolio from scratch with their own hands. Handing them money to invest is NOT a good idea. They have to learn to manage risks and the best way is to do it with their own money.

nowadays the kids all damn spoil sia

walau so much hate on the local IT industry ah? I work in fintech at one north and yes, while i think most locals are average, a few are atrocious. those atrocious ones are the people that get trained to push paper and manage projects rather than focusing on the job.

Interest rates are set to raise. Now is not the right time to hold REITs. More downside to come.
