Maybe I am easily satisfied......but I always missed Singapore whenever I am aboard.

Simple things like:
- Cheap and good food
- NTUC
- Plastic bags at NTUC
- Proximity to shopping center/MRT/bus
- Good shopping center
- Affordable taxi fares
- and so on.

I love Singapore. Unfortunately I don't like the vision of the current group of MIW. But still, I love Singapore.

Yes quite true Singapore has a lot of advantages and convenience in certain aspects. Taxi fares in Japan and U.K. are a killer!

Love Singapore does not mean we must love a particular political party. I love Singapore too. For a developed economy a lot of things are cheaper than its peers except for property and private car ownership. As the saying goes we cannot have the best of both worlds.

I fully understand where you are coming from. Although the part about wife screwing the husband upside down for coming home early is more of a stereotype than reality for Japanese millennials. In fact most Japanese women prefer their husbands to come home earlier because of the daily stresses of raising a young kid

Mostly in Ah Tiong land. Singapore is a resting place. But I can basically stay anywhere I want in this world.

Singapore is not the absolute best. It practices elitism. If you do not make it to the top. You are stucked in the middle and neither here or there. This is the region where the MIW wants the majority to be in. Too busy working to dwell on politics. Kids thrown into preschool at 2 years old. All parents worry about their kids of losing out. Unless you are people like me which reject the system and do your own thing.

It depends on what you want in your life. Unker like me cannot fit into Singapore totalitarian society because I do not like conformity. Luckily I am able to earn my current mini fortune in overseas and enjoying my semi retired lifestyle.

Ironically, it is this artificially setting of a glass ceiling for the masses to be stuck in the neither here nor there situation that provided the initial push factor to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

Put in another manner, life is way too short to always be 吃不饱饿不死

Singapore in the 90s is really great under LKY. Unfortunately as per what low khia thiang mentioned, PAP now is not the PAP of the past with great vision.....

I used to support LHL, and I remembered his first budget speech as PM was damn inspiring. But really not much tangible results to his regime.

In Singapore you better position yourself to be at the extreme pole of each polar. Either at the top or the bottom. Unker chose to be super low income group. Can have CHAS card and free broadband internet hahaha.

Actually I do not expect much from the government also. Just leave me alone and already paid my NS dues. My biggest wish is hope that blue collar workers get a better and fairer wage. It is a social injustice to our pioneer generation seniors and lower educated Singaporeans.

Yes old man did many good but also a lot of things I don't agree with. But at least living standard and purchasing power was manageable due to better job prospects and wages was FAIR (pre cheap foreign labour days) to blue collar workers!

2 years ago before GE 2015 I ever receive one phone call from a government agency doing survey. One of the questions being asked was, "How confident are you with the PM in steering/managing the economy?"

Was watching this video about Koreans trying their hardest to get out and immigrate to America.

My head was already in my hands midway through, due to the ridiculously dumb decisions that they make just to get that visa. Especially for the professionals willing to give up everything and do menial work.

What do you fellas think?

Depends how you want to play it. Read my above post for positioning yourself at either at the top or bottom sector of society. Game the system but reject it.

As you get older your views will change about which country you want to reside it. When you are young get out and see the world more. Your fortune may come from outside Singapore beyond your imagination. Unker is one example.

And when you travel more you will realise Singapore passport is one of the best in ease of travelling in this world. Ask our fellow Singaporeans Jet Li and Gong Li. I always disturb Ah Tiongs with this topic. PRCs no 1 in gaming the system!

Sorry for being so long winded but in order to achieve financial freedom start by building multiple streams of passive income whenever possible. Once you reach to the point of not worrying about money you can do whatever you want with your life. Not necessarily must emigrate.
