How come MR so powerful and ambitious to expand their operation to New Zealand, Indonesia, and most recently Australia?

M1 and starhub leh? If our two telco also go into other countries as a form of income diversification, I will definitely support them.

If Starhub and M1 aim to expand overseas, their dividend payout sure cut deep deep. The capex will be huge. They will have to change to new business models which shareholders might not like. If they already struggle with competition in their homeground, how are they gonna survive in foreign battlegrounds? TPG is different as they are doing well in their home market, Australia.

will need rights issue or even new IPO to raise sufficient funds

having said that, both are simply not big enough to expand overseas, as of now

Yup, they already find it a chore to bid for expensive spectrum in Singapore. Imagine them bidding for exorbitant spectrum rights in other countries. Definitely need to raise funds through equity and debts. So, Starhub and M1 have very little choice but to squeeze as much they can out of the local market. Won't go bankrupt, but future earnings will not be rosy.

I also took the chance to accumulate more M1 by adding 5,000 shares at a price of $1.97 and another 5,000 shares at $1.925 which I blogged over here. I believe a lot has been priced into the share price and valuation is cheap, relative to their historical valuation. I believe the trough for M1 is not far away and if it does go lower, I'd be happy to add more to my position.
