I guess timing and popularity of the matches determine whether the service provider will buy from the content providers. EPL is very popular in comparison to the rest due to the Football superstars and timing. One thing to blame is that our market is too small and it's controlled and content is getting expensive. There's no bargaining power and it's a difficult market for any service providers in Singapore unless u r cash rich. If not for this, we won't even have a chance to watch the recent World Cup. Maybe we won't even have a chance to watch EPL next time when it doesn't make any business sense and it's too expensive to watch

Well, you can blame the red camp for overbidding to get EPL onto their pay TV. They know that we can afford paying more now.

People can only remember the now. They cannot remember he past. Quite often they choose to be ignorant how things had to come to be the now.

There was a free sport channel from MediaCorp that showed all kind of sports 24/7 hours. Then one by one the programs had to stop, thanks to exclusive deals Starthub struck the rights owners. WWE, F1, MotoGP, Monster truck, Mountain bike, etc etc etc etc. Then not enough show, CityTV had to be closed down.

Then a lot more programs, including those sourced by MediaCorps for their channels, also went under Starhub with exclusive deals. They got wiped off the free to air.

Naturally, MediaCorp will not fight with money since all their channels have to be free. So left to Singtel.

This is the history and I am sure will still be forgotten and ignored.

My support of Singtel TV is coming to an end this June. Meantime, I look for alternative. I tried Internet streaming like I did b4 I hopped onto mioTV.

Then I went SLS window shop those android tv boxes to check out what exactly is kodi. Then I went home installed kodi onto a mac and viola not bad. The only con for me is the resolution. But then hey don't hiam when it is free. As many android tablets you have, as many Windows PCs you have, as many Mac you have, you can install kodi. So you can get many "GO" alternative too on your notebooks and tablets. No fighting with your siblings.

With regard to the pay tv situation - the mess we are in now, the poor state of our pockets now - it is time to stop the bleeding and cut the cable. Only we the consumers can send the message, only we can do something about it, only we can stop paying. If we continue to pay then no one, absolutely no one can help us. We have to stop complaining and do something instead.

Android tv boxes is perfectly legal. They are sold everywhere. I think even Google also make sell one with their name. kodi software is perfectly legal. They used to known as XBMC.

http://www.wirelesshack.org/a-guide-to-kodi-and-watching-free-movies-and-tv-shows.html

But you don't need android tv boxes, you just need a computer, notebook or android tablet. The same logic applies - computer, notebook and android tablets are perfectly legal.

You need to be a little bit of techie to install the add-ons. No need a degree or phd. Don't even need an ITE cert. Some simple knowledge will do.

When you compare to the $70+ to >$100+ per month savings, I think you will go learn that little bit of tech.

I've been streaming ever since Singtel got the BPL package. Once in awhile won't be able to get a good stream but most of the time I'm able to watch matches.

It's important to learn what streaming services are available and what programs to use. I don't depend on those web/flash stream unless necessary.

Besides, Singtel pre/halftime/fulltime match analysis are just meh.

Singtel getting too expensive

Agreed - not only that they make ZERO reasons to bundle more services with them! For example singing on for Singtel TV why not just give low speed fibre internet free (after say spending more than $50) and abolish transmitting signal via ADSL??

Yeah, agreed. Bundle more services and charge for it.

I know many around me already jumped to M1...

Internet is working fine for both routers but when I plug the lan cable from the tp link router to the mio tv box, it gives me error. Anyone had this before?

Does it have this issue if connected to the Singtel router?
If no then I believe the problem lies with the TP-Link router.
You are on the bundle plan, so the issue might be due to the VLAN tagging required.
Why not you just connect the mio to the singtel router instead?

Could be due to the setup of your tplink router. Note that your tplink router has to be on access point mode, not the bridging router mode.

You also need to ensure that the right wiring set up is used, refer to tplink website for support..
