sometimes the telephone line quality could have deteriorated over time....

imagine, this telephone line is like more than 20 years ago??

can have noise, etc. which affects the signal... but internet shld b more sensitive to poor quality phone line.

Though my flat is 20+ years, I renovated it when i bought it in 2012.

All electrical wires and telephone wires were changed during the renovation.

its not within ur house... could be a very very old switchboard outside ur house serving the whole block.... i have seen those riser outside house before... wiring all in a mess one....

i wonder how many hours we spend troubleshoot problems because of such badly wired and poor connections.

Another technician came to change the telephone wires outside, its slightly better now.

Sounds like ADSL line issue.

Not sure if it is. I am also using phone line for my MioTV but haven't experienced this lag issue.

Recently a technician guy specialized in wiring from singtel came and install a new telephone wiring from the riser box to my house and my ADSL internet and miotv is working fine, with only some rare time it disconnects but it got back connection after a few seconds.

The technician say the old telephone wiring is too old, which causes noice and interference and some of my neighbor got it changed to new telephone wiring before but now many of them switched to fibre already or switch providers already haha.

i set my mio tv to max, and starhub to middle. now it is ok. just need to change tv volume.

This has been discussed in this forum recently. Especially TVs with HDMI (even some those that do not) can have their volume adjusted for different source input. Go into your TV setting to do this.

For those input source (whatever they may be, Xbox, PS3, PS4, Media Player, mioTV, etc.) that may have lower volume input, set to the max on the source machine. Then in the TV, set accordingly to match the other sources. For those input source that have higher volume input, set those lower on the TV to match.

Then when you switch source on your TV, the volume-out from the TV will remain constant.

What cannot be change is with StarHub TV where the advertisement volume is so much louder than the program volume.

I got to stick with my fibre home bundle for discounts on my mobile and fibre, so the cheapest plan is the family+? i am going to cancel my mio stadium after the season ends.

do you all have this error message, unable to display HD, tv do not support HD.

and my mio frequently got this blacked out for a few seconds issue. when watching a program, the transmission like intermittent

Nope, u using HD ready or Full HD TV? What screen. Settings u selected on STB? HDMI?

Try selecting 720p or change to another HDMI.....i know some HDMI have quality issues, like Daiyo ones.

Has anyone subscribed to MIO TV only using Singtel fibre but for broadband subscribed with other isp?

Does the MIO TV set top connect direct to another port on the same ONT used by the broadband router? What about the one time charge?

Otherwise, pls share what other connection set up.

singtel does not carry miotv through fibre service if you do not take their fibre entertainment package.

Therefore its impossible to have miotv on fibre without fibre broadband.

For those newer "intelligent" homes without physical phone lines, Singtel might make the exception - you may want to check with them for this case.

Business MioTV are deployed with a ONT -> STB - so basically 1 ONT can handle a total number of 4 STBs.

Have seen this setup connected to a multiplexer for a hotel setup.

Just confirmed by Singtel can just subscribe MIO TV on fibre w/o bb. There will be otc (forgot the cost, like $100+). No router provided. STB plug direct into another port on ont after provision.

An unmanaged switch should do the trick - but do not plug normal devices to the ports of this switch as the multicast packets will swamp the network.

Do note that the Singtel ONT only supports services from Singtel - you can't have starhub / M1 / MYR / VQ on it.

So you'll be stuck with only 1 port on the FTP for your next fiber RSP.

(1) Do u mean Singtel ONT is different from other ISPs provided ones and that other ISPs provided ONT can support any other ISPs services concurrently?

(2) Or do u mean each FTP port and thus the associated connected ONT can only support one ISP?

If u meant (1), then I will subscribe the bb from other ISP first and have Mio TV run on the same ONT on another port but of course I will double check with Singtel if this is possible again. I did made known to Singtel CSO my intention is to get bb from other ISP but he did not make the distinction if the ONT is provided by whom.

If u meant (2), I doubt I will be needing 2 bb for load balancing or redundancy. But when u mentioned I will be stuck with only 1 port on the FTP thus 1 ISP and to chose wisely, it seems to imply there may be potential for headache and grieve or limitation. Is it downtime when cutting over from 1 ISP to another after contract expires cos no free port for parallel migration? Or simply a bad choice of ISP that I would have to live with during contract and no recourse to subscribe to another ISP due to used up FTP port? Would you kindly elaborate so I can avoid whatever that may be?

If there can be a choice of either (1) or (2), what differences, pros and cons will there be other than increased power consumption?

Also, all opennet installation including BTO flats should have multi core fibre and thus both FTP ports already properly terminated? It will be good to know in advance for planning my network and cabling in case I want to extend the patch fibre from the FTP so I can place the ONT away from the service box.

All the headaches with digital voice requirement and multiple STBs thanks to MDA allowing competition supposedly beneficial to consumer and HDB for providing BTO flats with an incomplete structured cabling for data and voice.
