Compares to LEGO it's a tad cheaper. But from what I'm observing the price is steadily increasing. retailers are slowly marking up more and more. To get the ENTIRE nanoblock collection now should cost you at most 7k. But of course, no one will get the entire collection at one go...

You can start slow, get the small ones first that cost $9 only.
Build it up slowly!

There's quite a few different companies offering freight forwarding services from Japan. I ended up going with tenso dot com. You sign up for free to get your individual Japanese address which you can then use to order from Japanese websites. They will charge exact EMS shipping cost as well as their fee which I think is quite reasonable (as low as 490yen for less than 1kg weight parcel).

One thing to bear in mind is that a lot of Japanese websites won't accept international credit card transactions so even with a Japanese address you won't be able to order. However amazon.jp does accept international CC so no problem ordering from them. If you do find something you want to buy from a store that won't accept your CC you can get the freight company to order it for you though of course they will charge more fees for this service. There are other services they will offer as well, for instance, if you order from a few companies they will consolidate all the packages before sending to you. They will charge for that service but your shipping will be cheaper.

As for setting up the amazon.jp account, it is useful to get an addon/extension for your web browser which will translate the whole page automatically for you as you go. I use a google translate extension for Chrome and didn't have too many issues. The freight company I mentioned has a page where it describes how to enter your Japanese address, which will be in Japanese characters, into mailing address order forms. I don't have the post count to link directly to those pages for you, sorry.

Also, I only bought items that were being sold by amazon themselves rather than marketplace items because there will be more problems with paying and shipping with those ones plus I wouldn't be able to understand them when they email me about the transaction. With amazon.jp stuff it's all automatic.

I'm more than happy to help you if you get stuck trying to set up an amazon.jp account. I'm sure we can work it out. It's worth it I think because you will be able to get big discounts on nanoblock though your wallet may not thank you.

P.S. With regard to the address, when you set up your amazon.jp account you will have the opportunity to enter both a billing address and a shipping address. For billing address you put your own address (the one where your CC statement gets sent to), then for the shipping address you will put the freight companies address that they give you. It will have a unique number that identifies it as being your address so they will know when they receive your package who it belongs to.

I unfortunately have already gotten most of the stuff I want..so won't be needing to buy from amazon anytime soon. But in future when got other releases. I would! Might end up being cheaper than many other sites. It's just more incovenient. AmiAmi is abit more expensive than Amazon.jp buy they are direct. EMS straight to you. No forwarder. Only downside is pay by PayPal. Which exchange rate sucks.

SG dun sell spare blocks. U can get from oversea online.

Me started out with 2 sets of animals like u and got highly addicted.
One prob is the local sets are quite limited, and to get everything, one has to "import" from overseas, being it thru online auctions or getting friends gg Japan to buy for u.
