chances are, it will be cheaper. but you got to buy in quantity to see any difference.

If you are just getting 1-2 items, TBS would be a better usage of your time.

The cheapest online shops are always the most inconvenient =\

Cheapest online store? Which one?

Cheapest online store? Which one?

think we usually buy from these webs online:

yahoo japan auctions (usually need forwarding service)
rakuten (if japan site usually will need forwarding service)
rakuten global (most ship directly overseas)

but normally above sites dont accept paypal.

else it's plamoya whose prices fluctuate according to japan market. i find shipping slightly more exp as well.
or amiami. which i tend to use more often. their prices may be slightly more exp sometimes, but ease of use wins. haha.. :D

i hope i receive the deluxe sky tree ver 2 this week.. :D

The cheapest palces are usually rakuten and amazon.jp.
Yahoo Actions Japan (YAJ) & Hong Kong is good for finding rare/old pieces.

And yes, these need freight forwarding services - aka, troublesome.

TBS Stocks in

Also...some fresh updates from TBS:

- Tokyo Sky Tree ver2 ($360)
- 2012 Disney Christmas Donald
- 2012 Disney Christmas Daisy
- Elmo
- Cookie Monster
- Big Bird

In other news...AmiAmi has back order for the evangelion series up on the site.
I've heard news that the 'PenPen' kit is in hot demand - for the collectors, do grab it fast.

btw i just tried out tenso. it's so much more user friendly compared to vpost. when they're running shipping campaigns, can be quite worth it.

some hiccups with AmiAmi

Gonna share my current experience with AmiAmi - Matter is not resolved.

So yesterday, I placed a backorder for all 7 kits of the evangelion series.
I received a confirmation email etc along with the usual clause that I cannot cancel my order etc,

I subsequently replied:
"I would like to confirm the order only if ALL 7 items are available,
and not in part. Please acknowledge."

I think it is only fair since the receipt of purchase is a single receipt.

Then here is their reply:
"Thank you for mailing us.

As noted on our website, we generally do not accept cancellations, especially of back-order items. You will be obligated to continue with your purchase for any items that may become available.

Thank you for shopping at AmiAmi."

And thus exchanges of a few more emails and the threat of my account being permanently closed if any back-order items is cancelled.

I'm getting quite unhappy with how this is turning out. :(:(

Straight forward is ok. But it's plain silly to stick to protocols when you do not have any clause saying I have to honour the back-orders in part or in full in a single receipt.

Does anyone know where I can find the Akagi locally?

Also what is the difference between Tokyo Sky Tree Deluxe Edition version 1 & 2? Is version 1 available locally as well?

Thanks.

Akagi & tokyo sky tree deluxe ver 1 are almost extinct. haha.. for akagi jasonovic used to have 1 available, not sure about now.. perhaps you could PM him. prices are not cheap for these 2 sets..

Ver 1 is just the tower.
Ver 2 is the tower with the shopping mall.

yep as rex as said. both are almost extinct. I got my ver1 just as the craze was hitting...for almost double it's original retail price (shipping included) This was some time last year May/June.

Akagi was going for even higher on online sites then. Even TBS couldn't find a source to bring the Akagi in.

I'd reckon the base of ver2 is very much like the Schloss Neuschwanstein Deluxe. And based from what I see, it looks like they included the 3 LED plates for the base too. (AKA there will be lights for this kit!!)

in ver2, the "antenna" looks different too. It's definitely more stable and looks shorter. Maybe parallax error.

Do you think we are able to use Ver 2 of the Tokyo Sky Tower and build it without the shopping annexe (aka similar to Ver 1)?

I think there are some differences with the 2 towers, ver 2 looks "fatter"?

By the way, does TBS have any member scheme? What are the other niche SG stores that stock Nanoblocks?

Lately there is this new US series of Nanoblocks, I quite like the USS Enterprise. Anyone bought it yet?

hmm.. the antenna i dont think it's shorter. but it does like fatter. more stable. the tower itself seems a little different also. cant put my hand on it. i'm sure comparison pics will appear..

ver 2 definitely you can choose to make the tower only. you don't like the shopping annexe? haha.. :)

other than departmental stores there's gift & greetings, rapidculture but quite limited range. actually nanoblocks can be found here and there.. even saw them at csc..

as for TBS i dont think they have a member's scheme. i still haven't shopped there myself.. hahaha..

i quite like USS enterprise too. but i find the price outrageous. so i'm not going to go near it. haha..

now that you mentioned it. I noticed the body too. The design of and the bricks used in ver2 is more similar to the mini version of the tokyo sky tree. and thus it has a more triangular shape. It should be a tad easier to make.

I think modifications could probably be very possible. Just make the base a sole LED light base.

As for LOCAL niche stores. I personally feel TBS is the most comprehensive. There's rapid culture, colourful blocks, simply nano.
(click for links)
If you are talking about retail front, I think only TBS and Rapid Culture?

yes it does seem more slanted for ver 2 body. much like the mini version. the antenna does look nicer though. fuller in shape.

just received the ver 2. confirm the body is different frm ver 1.
