i was at kinokuniya yesterday. apparently they have the diablock for kids under age 5.

nanoblock + is for age 5 and above apparently with all the hello kitty houses and sets in kinokuniya orchard.

Anybody seen the real-life diablock before? is it like lego size or duplo size?

I don't recall seeing Diablock being sold in SG.
Nanoblock+ is a new range that was released last year. I believe StealthEagle has bought sets to try the building structure:

Diablock should be more of Duplo sized. or perhaps smaller than Duplo. but definitely larger than Lego. (cant ascertain as I've not seen Duplo before)

Pink Panther FTW. die la my niece want me to get one from her. I told her she needs to go to the non english universal studios to get. She hated HK disneyland cause shes 3 didn't understand cantonese lol. Her exact words were Don't bring me to the chinese disneyland.

you might find Pink Panther at TBS or My Little Brick Shop - assuming they still have stock.

if only i know about this thread earlier. i was in japan in nov 2014 and were at quite a few bic and yodobashi cameras.

Could have gotten some stuff there. I ended up buying many 3d crystal puzzles instead there cause my mum likes the transparent quality of those.

Nano blocks i like some la. have the giraffe (which broke after it dropped and no more spare blocks). the maneki neko (white version) and now the mummy and baby sheep.

Notice the price for sheep is 13.90 vs the nanoblock website 19.20 after conversion. How come so expensive for the sheep, they had many at kino orchard.

The website is based in Japan. They deliver stuff all around the world.

So they have common stuff (that the local suppliers bring in) and stuff that you can't find locally as well. (i.e. exclusives)

We are actually quite blessed in SG already to get most of the common releases. The common stuff aren't anything to worry about...but the seasonal stuff like the Koinobori, Bic Camera exclusives, USJ Exclusives, TDR exclusives, Zoo/park/aquarium exclusives, you can't get them anywhere else.

From experience, Nanoblockfan gives the best price. It won't come cheap regardless.

Toy Brick Station and My Little Brick Shop do bring in some of these stuff...but they usually take awhile to come in...and price isn't very much different.

It depends on the categories that you are entering also, but I agree on catering to the Japanese palate.

I wonder how they pick the tops too.

Talking about that yesterday march 12 2015 I was at JEM Kinokuniya, the Diablock is 2x2 block is about 4cm by 4cm
there abouts.

They were selling it for 27.53 dollars something like that. definetely lower than 28 dollars per diablock model.


They had giraffe,alpacca and 4 other models.

I think they literally take a spinning top and see where it lands..in order to pick the top.

seriously...cannot understand the choice for some.

Nah, you saw the photos of how they judged? Photos on the table, and the invited judges come into the room to vote.

The rules have stated very clearly that no licensed stuff are allowed. Kawada doesn't want any complications with other companies.

I have to agree on some weird choices... a winner won 2 Excellence Awards under the Nanoblock+ category.

My basis of saying how they tend not to like characters is mainly derived from seeing how Kentaro doesn't get the recognition much in the past few years.
They tend to prefer concepts. But then...

For the double winner...in the Nanoblock+ cat, both expresso machine and shaved ice machine..seems like similar concepts in regards to the build.

As for the under 200 cat, I like the simplicity of the third place one, but the 2nd place...is erh....

The contest is like entering for lucky draw; everything is unpredictable.

His Lion Dance work that made the kid cried won the Excellence Award under the No Limit. I found it to be whimsical.

I'm not sure about the recognition part, but the Japanese builders' community is like a close-knit group. I always see them chatting, working together and supporting each other on Nanoblock stuff on Twitter.

Nevermind about that, we need to develop our local scene first.

I don't believe Qoo100 sells original Nanoblocks.
Do look out for the default black packaging for the mini sets.
