I'm not saying the OnePlus 6 is a lousy phone. Yes, it does not have top-of-line hardware like QHD screen, certified IP water resistant, no large battery, no wireless charging etc but at close to S$1000 the expectation is there that at least many software issues should be resolved before launch

Then you should get a S9 Plus or wait for Note 9.

I had a QHD screen previously in S7, and i tune down to 1080p, and i cant see the difference.

Certified IP resistant, I had Z2 before, supposed to be able to swim with it, it can't survive running tap, and it was damaged.

The battery life of Oneplus 6 is 3300mah, but it last me a day.

Wireless charging, agreed with Pete Lau, founder of Oneplus, you dont really need wireless charging with Dash.

I tried fast wireless charging on S7 before, it's so sloooooowwwww. With Dash Charging, the phone will be charged by 1 hr. With 15 mins charging, I can get 50%. It's really amazing compared to QC2.0 and wireless charging.

Oneplus 6 is for people who are android fan, who wants stock like Android experience and don't care about marketing gimmick such as AI etc.

I feel that the fair price of its 8GB 256GB is less than $1000, which did happen last week with the Qoo10 coupon.

In short, people who wants all the fancy phone technologies that you may not use, should get a mainstream brand, eg Samsung.

But for users who want minimalist, and a fast functional phone, Oneplus is recommended.

1) Hunting (focusing) of the camera
2) Vibration too soft
3) Notification sound too soft
4) Speaker volume a bit low
5) Fast battery draining
6) BT audio volume low
7) EIS/OIS issue. Needs phone reboot to settle it
8) No AOD

Any software update so far? Somebody at the OnePlus 6 forums seems to get update.

OnePlus 6 is a great phone but at near to S$1000 and having many software issues I feel OnePlus is just interested to push a phone into the market and waiting for feedback to resolve the issues.

Can these software issues be resolved before the 6T launches.....with another round of software issues?

- Yes agree, and that will be improved in next SW upgrade.

It's a SD845 chipset, with 6/8GB ram, 64/128/256GB ROM, which is comparable or better than other flagship phones.

But if you consider QHD, Wireless charging, IP rating as high end specs, then this phone does not have these fanciful specs.

Well it's a niche phone, and not for everybody. I will not recommend it to everybody, but only to those geeks and early adopters, who dont mind constant software OTA upgrades.

AI is not a gimmick, but more on early stage feature.

And Google is also heading that way, not only for their Google Assistance. If you read or used Android P Beta, you will notice that they included some AI features as well. Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness and App Actions. And sure there will be more in the future.

So if your phone don't have AI chip to support these future features, then gg.

TBH, I would have gotten the Samsung S9 (considering the price - just 100+ more than OP6) if I could live with the UI. Unfortunately I am a stock android person and I can't stand the overloaded apps on Samsung OS.

So if stock android/software updates are not really an issue for you, go for the S9.

Actually, I'm looking forward to a stock android phone and without FB pre-installed.

Other phones which do NOT have FB pre-installed are Google Pixel, Motorola, Huawei Honor series.

Google Pixel - although running on stock android I'm not too keen since it's by Google
(HTC - bought over by Google so not so keen on it as well)
Moto - owned by Lenovo, another popular chinese company with spyware issues and, also, not using latest SD processor
Huawei Honor - not using SD processor but Hisilicon Kirin processor

So, the best option now is the OnePlus 6

Issues with samsung and huawei phone is they are using their own proprietary chips like exynos and kirin processor.

So for android enthusiasts this is deal breaker because most of the development is done on phones with snapdragon processors. Most people buy oneplus phones because they are able to mod the phone like install google camera mod and custom roms due to the support.

Not much to explain about its specs but the local price is way too high. Furthermore I have no confident with its security as it's still a Chinese brand after all just like Oppo and Vivo. These 3 brands are from the same Chinese company BBK Electronics.

In my opinion, OnePlus 6 is high end phone. Mi A1 is then a mid range phone.
