So... I was previously going to upgrade from my iPhone 6S to the OnePlus 5T last year but decided to stick with my 6S for a third year instead, and it served me well. I doubt it’d last another full year so I think it’s time I changed phones. I’m definitely not looking at Apple anymore, and Samsung’s OS feels a bit complex for me while OP’s OxygenOS seems to be my kind of simplicity + having decent customization ability.
I just hate the fact local telcos don’t sell these and the official service center/support in SG is absolutely terrible based on reading reviews off their fb page. So it’s like...buy an export set and just pray it doesn’t fail you after a few months?
Doesn’t help that my parents are adamant about buying phones only from telco and have the mentality of ‘don’t buy China brand, can’t trust’ seeing only Apple, Samsung or Google as ‘reputable’. (Even if I’m financing my own phone). Plus when I bring up how OP is much cheaper (since they know nothing about OP) they’d rather finance me the latest iPhone or Pixel 3 than me buying my own OP6T, just ‘to be safe’ feeling a sense of reassurance from it being a ‘trusted brand’.
Tbh I worry a little too, but not as paranoid as them. So far I don’t see any or much complains with those who got the OP5T last year, OP6 and even those who got their 6T for a couple weeks now though. But I’d probably wait for December sales period (Christmas/New Year’s?) to get a better deal.
