So... I was previously going to upgrade from my iPhone 6S to the OnePlus 5T last year but decided to stick with my 6S for a third year instead, and it served me well. I doubt it’d last another full year so I think it’s time I changed phones. I’m definitely not looking at Apple anymore, and Samsung’s OS feels a bit complex for me while OP’s OxygenOS seems to be my kind of simplicity + having decent customization ability.
I just hate the fact local telcos don’t sell these and the official service center/support in SG is absolutely terrible based on reading reviews off their fb page. So it’s like...buy an export set and just pray it doesn’t fail you after a few months?
Doesn’t help that my parents are adamant about buying phones only from telco and have the mentality of ‘don’t buy China brand, can’t trust’ seeing only Apple, Samsung or Google as ‘reputable’. (Even if I’m financing my own phone). Plus when I bring up how OP is much cheaper (since they know nothing about OP) they’d rather finance me the latest iPhone or Pixel 3 than me buying my own OP6T, just ‘to be safe’ feeling a sense of reassurance from it being a ‘trusted brand’.
Tbh I worry a little too, but not as paranoid as them. So far I don’t see any or much complains with those who got the OP5T last year, OP6 and even those who got their 6T for a couple weeks now though. But I’d probably wait for December sales period (Christmas/New Year’s?) to get a better deal.

if warranty is a concern get the those with local warranty but their price is steep which is as good as buying a Samsung note 9 or iPhone xr.So... I find the pricing now is good enough and wont go lower. 675 to 690 range for 6gb 128gb variant.
U can continue waiting of course till december for sales. But i am quite sure that the pricing will still be the same. Its like a forever waiting game, by then oneplus 7 will soon be out and u going to use 6s for another year?
Just my 2 cents
And if u feel price is high, u can get a op6 now. Its abt 6xx range for 8gb 128gb variant, which is about 100 bucks cheaper then op6t 8gb 128gb variant which i doubt u will lose out in anything as they uses the same sd845 and same camera sensor, everything else is the same just a smaller batt and a physical fingerprint sensor at the op6

Why are you not looking at iPhone anymore?

Some of us that bought OnePlus phones over years knows that they usually have quite a decent QC track record started way over back from OnePlus 1.
How to know which is official SP for OnePlus?

I agree with what u said about the purple. Its really nice as i am using it myself.Actually personally I'm cool with the current prices, just to appease my parents (again, despite me paying for it in full myself). Appreciate the info that the prices won't exactly fluctuate over the next month's holiday season though.
And yeah I'm aware the longer I wait the closer it would be to next model, but I'm not really concerned about having the 'most up to date' phone. (Plus I'm fairly certain my 6S likely wouldn't hold up a 4th year) I was initially looking at getting the OP6, expecting it to be cheaper once OP6T comes out (as it has I see) but I like the new change of fingerprint scanner so decided on OP6T. Learning about the Thunder Purple model felt like the icing on a cake for me to go for it even more.
Just a personal choice after observing the direction Apple has taken since their 10th anniversary release (on top of their steeper pricing). Truth be told I probably wouldn't have gotten my current 6S three years ago to begin with if it weren't for 'feeling stuck to iTunes' after being heavily dependent on it (tough transitioning from Apple to Android while retaining things like WhatsApp history and stored Notes - because I write a lot in there). Been on Apple since... iPhone 3G > 4 > 5 > 6S and each time it was just a simple sync with iTunes on new phone to have everything seamlessly transferred and ready to use.
Even right now, feels tough having to lose my Notes on iPhone when moving over to Android (WhatsApp I believe I've found a way to transfer history over), but better now then later I guess.
I've read even the older threads of OP1 and 3 users (some 3 users still having absolutely no issues with their phones till now) to feel a sense of reassurance to believe in getting just the export set (besides, as mentioned previously, the warranty isn't truly a warranty in terms of service provided). Just feels like a lottery in terms of not being 'the one unlucky dude who got a bad unit', though the odds of that are slim.
I agree with what u said about the purple. Its really nice as i am using it myself.
Local warranty sets u pay about 200 more which i feel does not really justify.

Haha yea its 200 bro. For the standards u can go and see the fb reviews. Almost all is bad reviews.Oh wow, didn’t realize it’s as much as 200 more; that’s insane! For how long of a warranty does that cover anyway? But also the standards, or the way the service is for OnePlus here in Singapore is terrible right? Not like paying that much for Apple/Samsung level of service... I know the Qoo10 normal export sets have at least 3 months warranty included and after that you’re on your own.
Oh and yeah, on a side note, purple’s like my personal favorite colour so...seeing OP suddenly come up with a purple edition almost feels like it was meant to be mine hahah!
