Uh... Have both le. Just that people never read and anyhow assume it is stirring. When in actuality, I was talking about PS5's less consumer friendly decisions this time round similar to how the PS3 was. Which in turn, caused Sony to become humble and introduced a console that is very consumer focused which is the PS4.
I do agree with all of your points. There are many things that the Xbox Series X seem to do better compared to the PS5.
Though to say that nothing about the hardware is better is not true. Sony has been heavily emphasizing on their SSD and its supposedly almost double the speed of the xbox series X (updrading storage is also not proprietary compared to xbox series X). Its still early days and quite puzzling that the xbox series X is beating the PS5 in most back compatible titles. I think the speed of the PS5s SSSD will only be seen through Sonys own first party titles. I assume that third parties have to design their game to the lowest common denominator among the consoles (excluding switch) so multi plat games would probably load around the same speed.
For backwards compatibility, microsoft has been doing this since 2014 if im not wrong. They have mastered it and spent the last 5 years perfecting backwards comaptibility. They probably decided to focus on many things under the hood and services during the years when PS4 was dominating and we are seeing all of it come to fruition now. It would be amazing if PS5 has seamless backwards compatibility like XBOX through all of its generations but I think we will have to wait for that.
Though i do not like the new head of playstation Jim Ryan, he has said some really stupid things in the past such as backwards compatibilty being useless :
https://www.vg247.com/2017/06/05/why-would-anybody-play-this-says-sonys-jim-ryan-about-backwards-compatibility/
Also the xbox backwards compatilty is not as great as what everyone makes it out to be. Only select games from 360 and original xbox are playable (many games though) but not all. Till now I still cant play my top spin 4 lol.
For us users who value physical media, the PS5 is expensive ($499 USD/$729 SGD, when the xbox is also $599 USD but $699 SGD), but for people who value digital, the Ps5 is super good value. Just $599. Cheaper than the PS4 when it launched.
For variable refresh rate and 1440p support, I think that will come. As mentioned from sony recently here:
https://www.theverge.com/2020/11/11/21559903/sony-playstation-5-no-browser-1440p-support-vr
Microsoft heavily pushed for 1440p since they were already developing for games on PC when the xbox one was being outsold by ps4 almost 3:1. Selling their games on PC probably made them go "lets add 1440p support to our console since our games are gonna be developed for 1440p on PC anyways".
So Microsoft actually has alot of their under the hood technologies that they've been working on for many years finally come to fruition. But its still at the cost of games. Xbox Series X launched with 0 first party exclusives and I cant even count with 1 hand what exclusives they had in the xbox one era that were top tier games (though to each their own, tastes in games is subjective).
Ps5 already has 4 games if im not wrong. 2 games with extremely high production value and with Sonys portfolio of games and studios, more will come.
Though with how microsoft has been buying studious, the counterpunch from microsoft will be strong and only then Sony is in trouble if they do not work on their "under the hood technologies"
But you are right though, they do seem slightly complacent with how the marketing and pr leading up to the PS5 launch imo.
(Btw if you have buyers remorse for buying the PS5 I'd love to take the pre-order off you HAHAHAH)
