Looks like SATA SSDs are definitely more stable for the PS5. Probably due to the controllers being more mature. Going with an enclosure using NVME SSD is more risky as its still early days for these controllers, but they are fast, especially coupled with a USB3.2 gen2 port running at 10Gb/s. There are 3 more popular ones on the market at the moment and it seems the ASM2362 tends to work better with the PS5.

and re-installed the PS4 games etc. and it's much more stable, in fact, works without a hitch! I was downloading updates, copying from disc, playing games etc. concurrently all off this drive and no issues at all. This WD uses the ASM2362 controller. With my previous one it would have hung or crashed etc.

So in short, if you're looking for an external drive using NVME SSDs, go for either an enclosure with a ASM2362 (there are some no brand ones from Aliexpress selling for about SGD20) eg.

Yup, hachi tech/challenger usually can fulfill the pre-order by the stated date or maybe a day later as seen in launch date pre-order in Nov.
The annoying part is they only comm it to us a day before delivery where other retailers can at give a heads-up much earlier. Anyway better than nv deliver like HN ba..

I think depending on the pre-order to volume if they can fulfill earlier will do so, like PS5 launch day set, 19 Nov fulfillment date but I only received on 20 Nov due to overwhelming demand which their delivery dept cannot do it within the day.
