Sony does require you to make full payment when they send you the SMS telling you that you are eligible to purchase a PS5. I went down to Westgate a week before to make full payment, then collection the following Friday.

stores that dont require deposit like sony, can be done both upfront and by call. the cons - need to make two trips back to back arnd the same time fr payment n collection separately.
whereas stores that require a deposit to place name, buyer just pay the remaining amnt on the collection day, which is some time apart.

U know how many bros here got their through drops way before their name in the list got called up.?

yes zero chance is wrong. there is still a chance. only competition is high. those not fast enough or ppl like office hour who are busy cant get to their phone during drop times, will lose out.
unless the supply is big like the sony drop back in mar (was it?). that lasted after midnight around 6-7hrs. unless youre sleeping, that one sure all can get. but thats like once in a lifetime.

like you mention, some people do this way - po from store by placing name/deposit. N also after that, look on drops to double their chances. if by luck happen to get one thru drops, when the waitlist call them by then they have two alrdy. then can consider either keep both, or either cancel/sell the other one or whateva.

but really uh, if dont want to take chance on drops to avoid disappointment, dont just rely on drops best go by the other method po from store. if keep missing drops twice-three times. thats like 2-3 mths wasted alrdy for you to po from store instead. having a store po at least got backup.

Guess u might want to remind urself next time about being lazy when u can’t get the things u want. I would say majority of the pple here are trying to secure a set hence are poking ard to see what other avenues or opportunities are there to secure one. Asking for help is never shameful, it’s the pple that thinks they are above the rest are the ones that should feel shameful about. Just a little bit of empathy will benefit everyone, but I guess it takes a lot of hard work for some.

Since u had gotten urs u will not understand wat the rest of us had went thru when looking for it during these period. Not everyone decided to get 1 during launch and there are many reasons behind it. No one knew that it would be so difficult to get. U and I were lucky and got ours but spare some thoughts on others that are still trying. Put in a little effort to think and U will underand. Show some empathy to others.

U are wrong on the part where I don’t know how they felt, I do because I have been in their shoes of searching for one but the difference is I made an effort? The global shortage of chips due to rising demand and low yield, it’s not Sony fault that their supplier AMD’s OEM TSMC has their orders full making the chips for automobiles to laptops to desktops to CPUs to GPUs to these PlayStation 5.

It’s way harder to buy a PS5 than PS4, which clearly shows demand is much higher than previous generation despite a lack of launch titles compared to PS4.
