For sure we will see the PS5 Pro mid cycle of this console gen. Trust me, most of us who will go all out to get new gadgets like PS5 at launch, will most likely get the pro when it comes out 😆

How much more "pro" can you get from the PlayStation 5? Hehe already capable of 8K resolution

Is there a different if u change ur hdd on your ps4 to ssd ?

The SSD speed on PS4 is seriously crippled by the internal architecture hence only slightly faster in game loading.

You can check out some benchmarking videos on youtube and see for yourself.

There will come a time where the same manufacturing process will either be cheaper using same technology or same cost but able to squeeze in better components. That will decide whether we'll see a PS5 Slim (same spec but cheaper) and/or PS5 Pro (higher spec at same price or slightly more).

It’s 8k capable but do you honestly think we can do 8k at a playable frame rate? In fact I’ll be pleasantly surprised if every single game runs at 4k 60hz with ray tracing.. The PS5 Pro will definitely come and push future games nearer to 4k 120hz... but let’s not think too far and enjoy our PS5 for the next 3 years 😉

8K output mainly for video playback/streaming & YouTube, yes it can.

You'll be disappointed if you think you'll be playing every current/next gen games at 8K resolution. Definitely no. So better keep your expectations low.

Maybe indie titles, some tech demos & old game like Tetris will run at 8K, no problem. But outside of that, I just don't see 8K becoming the standard anytime soon.

8K gaming is definitely the cream of the crop right now, but you need the absolute highest end possible components (CPU, GPU, VRAM, fast RAM etc) to make it work.

There are some youtube videos now showcasing the upcoming RTX 3090 card running Doom and other FPS games at native 8K. The card alone is more than 3 times the price of the PS5 and drawing 350W power by itself. The 24GB VRAM size also more than the PS5's total system memory.

An 8K game with native 8K textures will probably take up like 200GB or more of your storage space, not to mention taxing the loading time even on a fast SSD.

Edit: Forgot to mention the card weighs a whopping 2.1kg, i.e. as heavy as a typical laptop. :)

U should go youtube and search for 4k vs 8k. Proven on blind tests that most ppl can't tell a difference between 4k and 8k. There was a test on a 8k content playing on a 8k samsung QLED TV vs same content on a 4k OLED tv. The 4k OLED was mistaken as the sharper image. Sometimes its not about resolution, its about color contrast.

Hardcore gamers don't care, they just want the best, period.

People like me, I'm good with 1080p 60fps with improved image quality and good effects like lighting.

Which is why as and when I upgrade my PC in future I'm eyeing the RTX 3070, good enough for me.

Also note that Nvidia's DLSS is blurring the line with upscaling of 1080p or 1440p content to 8K. Supposedly normal gamers will not be able to tell the difference against 8K native.

Anyway should get back in topic as this is a PS5 thread.

till gaming rig can run 4k with super ultra settings with all the best and whistles on 120 fps and above for any games, no point talking about 8k. at least for me.

Xbox series x look more and more tempting with game pass.

Really hope Sony exclusives make up for it ... the game prices quite off putting tbh plus all the region dlc nonsenses

Make snag a Series X as well ..

but their game library doesn't excite me.

I do hope Sony can get closer with Sega in terms of partnership or even a merger as I can't imagine the apocalypse situation if MS buys Sega.

Even if it is an unfounded rumor, it is seriously unthinkable to me.

I think that’s almost done deal liao. Their new blue controller is using the same shade of blue some more.

Plus Microsoft needs a footing in Japan. It’s either sega or Konami.

PS4 = SATA2. So yeah, the fastest drive is an SSD inside a USB enclosure connected to the back of the PS4.

PS4pro = SATA3. SSD inside better.

I doubt it. We are an insignificant market. I think they'll prioritize NA & EU. Also since if they say they can release more probably means they have more stock on hand or can air freight a lot more.

Asia is their stronghold so they don't really have much competition for here. At most maybe they make more available in S Korea.

Just sharing. Not sure if good deal but i preordered demon soul ps5 on shopee. Store discount $4 + 10% cashback (1k coin worth $10) so total is i paid $96 but its more of $86 due to coins which should be quite good?

Maybe some of you that want to maximize can wait for better voucher + bank coupon? (think some can stack).
