The analog stick drifts are so annoying that it's disrupting my gameplay. I can't even control it properly.

I have been using both Dualsense's since Dec 2020 (white) and since Sep 2021 (red). So clearly out of warranty period. I called their service centre Oxley Hub and the engineer advised me to bring down the invoice/barcode/DS etc. to do checks first before advising me. He said it's probably hardware failure. Resetting them won't work either. Consolation that at least I still have one last DS (new GOWR edition) to use and I just hope it doesn't suffer the same fate in the future.

So disappointing. I've been playing PS since 97 and this is the first time I experience stick drifts. Ahhh!!
i bought the purple one during the dec '22 sale and now it has started to drift

less than 3 months koyak....the QC on dualsense is really horrendous!

this is my third dualsense to break down since i got the ps5 in 2021

Months ago, I paid $45 to exchange my Gen 1 Red DS (stick drift like mad already) with a brand new Gen 2 Red DS at Oxley Bizhub. Just timely that I was there when a batch of new DSes were delivered to him. The engineer told me Gen 2 is more resilient. Looking at the back of the DS, they have a string of characters (above the O of the word SONY). If it starts with G1xxx, then Gen 1. If it starts with G2xxx, then Gen 2.

There’s also manufacturing date next to it.
I see the DS that came with the set starts with F32 instead. Date of manufacturing is 09.2022 while my pink DS starts with G2 is 08.2022

Out of warranty period already, unfortunately.

IIRC (cos it has been a while), at first he said he will try to repair and if that fails, then he will change the inside while reusing my Red DS casing and that will take a few days. Then as I was deciding, a delivery came and he offered me the $45 deal with 3 months warranty for direct exchange or I can also buy a brand new one for 1 year warranty. He also repaired my White DS's left stick (rubber broke and fell off) for free out of good will.

The weird thing is both my White and Red DSes stick drifted. When I arrived there, the White one miraculously recovered (it's the default one that came with set in Nov 2020) and the newer Red DS CMI. I went home to test it out and until today, the White one is still doing fine.

Coloured DS controllers (minus red black and white in the early days) are all 2nd gen ones which are better. Nowdays all colours second gen.

Perhaps if one can still spoil so many DS controllers in such a short period of time, you might want to relook how rough you are in using your controllers.

I have 3 controllers including launch day white, and still still working perfectly for me.

I'm very curious.

Can you show us a photo of all these hoots?

Even better if you can take with the Sons of the Forest (camo)

NPNT right? ;)🪖;)🪖
Actually, I also bought quite a few controllers for 72.90 each. Then I sold my white ones for 60-65 each.

bought: red, 2x black, camo, purple and pink. (Have a total of 6x ps5).

No GOW and Blue DS? You can almost have the full collection released so far except white.

It would be great if they have a Classic "PlayStation" Grey DS in the future, maybe 2025 release to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Best with their old slogan "Wherever, Whenever, Forever" or "Do Not Underestimate the Power of PlayStation" printed on it. It's like back then when they release the 20th anniversary classic grey PS4.

I would definitely consider buying.

@theflipper Side note: I don't think it's me who plays roughly as I'm quite chill and for the record, I have never had any of my controllers stick drifted since 1997 except the DSes. I think it may be my family members who get too excited while playing but they are supposed to withstand some sort of roughness? It's a little too fast for stick drift to happen.

Just updated the PS5 firmware and selected the Test 1440p output option under Settings -> Screen and Video and it says the connected HDMI device doesn't support 1440p output, is this normal?

My TV is Sony 65X90K 4K TV, I would assume a 4K TV supports 1440p singal as well.

If not when I choose performance mode some games may drop from 4K to 1440p for higher framerates right? If so the TV goes blank? Or is it the game drop from 4K all the way to 1080p?

1440p output is meant for PS5 connecting to PC monitor as display, like i play my PS4 on my monitor.
