overall quite a good experience though. honestly still quite impressed as this is like the first major games by china developer. at least break the monopoly.

Not sure what monopoly you are referring to since many companies/studios have been involved in AAA game development for decades, Chinese companies werent interested in this because its very risky and they could make a ton more money with live service games like Genshin.

Having played this for about 20 hours or so, I'd say that this is a pretty good single player game, I'd rate it 8.5/10, it'd be a 9/10 if not for some annoyances like janky hit/hurt boxes of some bosses and the invisible walls.

Pretty good effort, hope to see more single player games like this and less live service games.

Wukong keeps getting better as you play, I really like the boss fights and there is more level design, exploration, interesting NPCs, areas, shops, items, etc. from chapter 2 onwards. They ensure that your skills aren't OP also. Slowly chip away at the chapter end boss but must learn to dodge and execute moves at the right time. I had fun when fighting
Yellow Wind Sage
though challenging and died umpteen times. That is the difficulty I appreciate! Currently at chapter 3.

I've been travelling between areas to uncover more secrets as
Chapter 1 also got secret, there should be more, for e.g. at the waterfall, looks sus, discovering by myself
I wonder why they make chapter 1 look like there's minimal level design. I know there are a lot of bosses but that kinda give the wrong impression (mostly just bosses only and very little normal enemies) to the players.

Is PS plus extra worth the $121 price? :(
It has to depend on your needs. Do you have time to game and also don't really buy Day1 games?

For me, it's (PS Extra NOT Deluxe, I don't want the classics) kinda worth it but purchase in stacks (maybe 2 to 3 years? Cos don't know when's the next discount) when there's discount for a even sweeter deal, though recently there ain't much. Just play and beat a few exclusives/great games from the catalogue and you'll get your money back already for what those games are worth. Don't also forget that you'll get your monthly free games (quite subjective, like there's Ender Lilies this month, a great metroidvania, but maybe meh to others) and cloud storage for your save files, etc, go check out the list of services.

Do also check how many games you want to play in the catalogue currently and also be mindful that games come and go all the time. SONY will announce regularly. For example, Horizon Forbidden West is leaving the service in mid sept. You may check the "Last Chance To Play" section.

On the PS5, go to PS Plus > Collections > scroll down to the most bottom, Last chance to play. They will indicate the service leaving date and time when you click into each game. Currently, those "last chance to play" games will be removed on 17 Sep 2024, 8AM.
