Got my Blu-ray drive from TOG 2 weeks back.

WD Black 8TB M.2 SSD on the way from Amazon. My current 2nd Gen PS5 only had a 4TB M.2 in it.

For those that play primarily from physical disc could do without any M.2 SSD. I need a large one as most of my PS4/PS5 games are digital.

Actually even with physical disc, all the data will be installed locally in ps5 first. The disc is acting only as a media to check if the game is original after that. No data played from disc during gameplay, all are from local storage.

I'm wondering, does the Switch do that as well? Or does it play directly from the flash card?

For switch, the game played directly from flash card. This is due to the speed of the card reading which is many times better than blueray disc reading. Normally data installed on switch local storage is only the update of the games.

by the way, I got call from challenger just now that I can collect my ps5 pro today, yay!!!

If you wanna treat yourself to nicer graphics without having to choose between performance and fidelity mode, then get a pro.

Also keep in mind the ps5 gen still has at least another 4 years to go with lots of upcoming good games.


Can trade in your ps5 also. I sold mine on carousell.

Bought Disc Drive in September, the same week Pro were announced. I purchased early & well in advance to avoid the mad rush as stocks are limited now & difficult to get at retail price.

I won't buy from scalpers. As the saying goes 'If you buy from scalpers, you are the reason scalpers exist'.

Watching the Digital Foundry PS5 Pro dissection video now.

Looks like one of the games with very noticeable boost is Metaphor Refantazio which now runs at a constant 60fps. Interestingly said game is selling at S$70 here whereas in US PSN it's US$70!
