Moving forward, as I have lesser time to play now, I may consider not renewing (on Extra now) after it lapses. See how. And lesser of those black Friday/festive discounts for existing subscribers to renew/add on subscription. They always have new subscribers discount only these days.
Waiting for my Extra sub to end soon in July, then will downgrade to Essential. Mainly for cloud saves & monthly games. Don't really care about online multiplayer, though imo it should be free & not locked behind a subscription paywall.

The monthly games are hit-or-miss & inconsistent in quality, but the good thing is once added to library, it can still be played years later (as long you're subscribed to PS+). Lowest tier is enough for my use case. Got a huge backlog of PS4/PS5 Essential games I've amassed over the years, still haven't come around to starting them. Titles such as Control, Plague Tale 1 & 2, Crash Bandicoot 4, Callisto Protocol, Mafia trilogy, Mass Effect trilogy etc.

I'm not a fan of modern gaming service like Extra/Deluxe & Gamepass. Where games rotate in & out, and have to rush through to complete them. Prefer to play at my own pace & time. I'll continue to buy games I'm interested in (old-school physical disc) instead of waiting for games to hit the Catalog.

Both Extra/Deluxe offer good value for those who play many games & have lots of free time on their hands, but its just not for me. I'm not the target audience.

oh my...regarding the PS+, if i were to stack now, can i just horde on the PS+ Extra subs without activating it (cos my PS5 not here yet..)?

am i able to choose when to activate it if i bought multiple subs before the price hike?

thanks in advance!

also, i realised the PS+ Extra is now priced at $135 instead of $120...? is there pricing error or was there a hike previously?
A few days ago, it is still at $120. Now they made it $143 then slashed off a slight discount down to $135. Why not let players get at $120 before the hike? This is partial hike then full hike in June. Oh my.

they are being greedy. look at the quality of the games in the catalogue. they know gamers will start to stack once news of the increase is released.

This kind of move just makes them look bad.

If they value the gamers, then give a discount to let people stack with a limit within a window before the hike. I'll maybe buy 1 or 2 years. Now? Forget it.

Sony is getting greedy even as playstation's value proposition is diminishing. There are so few PS5 exclusives, and the few exclusives like FF7R were only timed exclusives. Without exclusives its only advantage over PC is now just cost but thats slowly being eroded with all this BS PS+ and PS5 prices hikes.

Xbox's weakening also helps push Playstation towards more greed, it is what it is.

But Nintendo is also moving the same way.

When there are way lesser subscribers, they have no choice but to give discounts eventually. Just need to see how long they can sustain.

Nintendo is different, their games dun ever appear on other platforms, so you have to buy a switch or whatever to play Nintendo games. Without exclusives there is zero reason for a console to exist (outside of cost).

I'm so glad Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remaster is on the PS5, thought it was only for Xbox.

Now to decide if I want to pay full price for it or wait few months for discount, it was quite some time since I last paid full price for any AAA games.
