Thank you :) very much kind sir

Another important feature of the PS5 architecture is the hardware data compression. With game data and texture size approaching beyond 100GB, loading compressed data (say 100GB compressed to 50GB) means loading time instantly reduced to half.

Combined with the ultra fast direct SSD access, loading time will be reduced further.

if its really that incredibly powerful, bare minimum is 4k resolution 60 fps for all games ???

The thing is, nothing is infinite in this world.

You have a set hardware (high end PC or any console), you develop a game for it, you can choose to program it at 1080p 60fps with quality graphics (ray tracing, high res textures, long view distance, detailed environment without corridors or hallways to mask texture loading, or you can choose to program at 4K 30fps with lesser graphics details, shorter viewing distance, lesser onscreen objects etc.

With a fixed HW, trying to program a higher res game (4K) as oppose to a lower res game (1080p) will always result in a trade off of some kind. The same argument goes for 8K against 4K.

It ultimately depends on the game and what the developers can squeeze out of the HW. For FPS games, framerate is probably more important to some gamers so it can be designed with reduced graphics quality to push 60 or 120fps.

For RPG games, you don't need high framerates so developers can concentrate on much better environment graphics and character models etc.

Even with current ultimate PC setup running games at 4K 120fps, some people will still complain it can only run the same game at 8K 30fps with lower graphics texture. And when it finally comes time running 8K 120fps, others will complain it can only run 12K 30fps.

Basically it's a never-ending quest.

i think 120 fps is for games targeted for current gen consoles.

next gen probably got so much horsepower left over that they can push more resolution and fps~

but for games targeted for next gen... it will have to depend liaoz~

so it's a balancing act of eye candy vs performance

Can't predict PS5 future models, but Xbox One Series X already has another version -- the Series S. Leak confirmed by someone who bought the Series X controller ahead of release and the packaging mentioned it also works on Series S, so it might be released soon or same time. It's a downgraded version, lol. I think it has lower technical specs, not just removing optical drive, probably for Xbox game subscription service.

If Series X is a mid-range PC, Series S would be the equivalent of low-end PC.

PS5 & PS5 Digital have the same performance less BD drive.

console used to be for ppl that do not want to splurge on a good pc but still want decent arcade games for playing, just buy and play.

nowadays need to anticipate a pro version console, patching games....DLCs......hai

all due to consumers supporting all these methods thats y,..ownselves to blame.

It still is, my PS4 runs the same games as the PS4 Pro, I don't see a need to upgrade to the latter.

You don't have to buy every iteration of the hardware to enjoy the games, unlike the hardcore PC gamers.

Sony's touchpad approach has been pretty much a miss so far~

i remember VITA got the touchscreen at the back, no one use it, they removed it in the later iteration~

everytime Sony adds such a feature, their next gen will have to have this feature (in their controller) in order for backward compatibility. So I rather they don't do such things. keep the controller cheap and simple.

Interestingly the XBox controller which is a basic controller about the same price as the PS4 controller yet it lacked many features found in the latter. So, a basic joypad may not necessarily be cheaper by much depending on the company you buy it from.

What is the price range of this card alone?

People say their 5 year old Ferrari can go beyond 320kph leh, my newest car can only go 200 kph.:)
but but but, how can new consoles be worse off compared to 2 years ago technology~?

then 3000 series surely jiak PS5/XSX for breakfast~ :(

jokes aside. i really don't think DXR + DLSS is the solution moving forward~ they are brute force solutions~

my friend said he will go back to pc master race.. he said sony false advertising.. cannot fulfill native 4k 60 fps for all games..

more options will be always be good.

I think the best PC in the world also cannot guarantee that. :s13::s13::s13::s13:

i'm just greedy.. want 4k want 60 fps want all the bells and whistles, extremely good render/details.

end of the day, if have to choose, i choose 60-120 fps (doubt 120 fps is possible in console) and "respectable" resolution which is 1440p.

Did Sony promised ALL games will run 4K 60fps?

Based on your needs I recommend getting expensive PC hardware to fulfill your 4K 60fps requirement, though obviously I bet you will not be able to play many of the PS5 games.

Other than hardware, another major factor for a gamer is the game library itself. How big is the game library, does it have the games that I like to play? These are the real questions that need to be answered.

Obviously for the PC master race getting the latest greatest HW is what they live for, spending thousands of $$$ every half year or so. Game library for them, in my personal opinion, is secondary.

I play PC games as well on my 5 year old Asus ROG notebook (which is mid-range even back then) and I'm happy with it.

I get best of both worlds with PC games library & PS4/PS3/Vita library.

plus that controller runs on AA batteries~ :s22::s22:

but still kinda cool since Xbox controller is a controller profile on Steam~

8k ? 12k ? too far away.

now 4k 120 fps isn't possible with all the games on PC

yes never-ending quest till someone able to create a super computer that are so future proof.

I don't think Sony promise that.

have to compromise. there will be quite a number of PS5 exclusive.

Console can never win PC master race if they try to play compute power game, gamers buy consoles for the exclusives, not for the power, Nintendo has already proven this with the Switch. The Switch has less Tflops than an Ipad, but that didn't stop it from selling 60m units.

The xbox series x is going to fail again because it has nearly zero exclusives, PS5's fate will depend on the strength of its exclusives.

A solid games library is why all generations of Playstations have been outselling all generations of xboxes.

I don't see that changing in next gen. In fact I predict the gap will even be wider.

this round sony and microsoft are going different directions. in terms of games exclusive, PS would lead in terms of console sales.

for xbox/microsoft, they are more focus on different platforms which is their console and pc. they focus more purely on their xbox pass instead.

depend on how they go forward, they earn profits in a different way. i do hope sony would also push something similar to xbox pass.
