Ehm, it is Series S $459 vs X $699, differences of $240. E.g. if ur a non gamer parent whom getting it for ur kids, which one will u consider? Most will go for the cheaper option lor.

No brainer, PS4. Haha, cheaper than xbox s and definitely got much more games too.

Yea..no point keep releasing new games on older console which will only hold back the development.

Horizon forbidden west face alot of heat due to this.

Sony can't just ignore the 110 million PS4 owners. As long as people keep buying the games they will keep producing them.

Think will be for awhile lah. Can't just shut down like that. Most of the time the support is like that.

Yes, imo for a year or so during the transition period. 3-4 yrs as what they claim is too long.

Ultimately they still want people to upgrade to PS5 and game development to build base on latest gen architecture instead of being held back by the previous one.

But PS4 like xbox one will ultimately stop getting the newer game, so xbox series s will be the answer when comparing next gen option.

Not necessarily true. Back in 2006 during the transition from PS2 to PS3, lifetime sales of PS2 (100+ million units sold at that point) were comparable to PS4.

Yet Sony didn't hesitate to 'ignore' the massively successful PS2 & leave the past generation behind (Though I know God of War 2 released in 2007, as the final big first-party game). Once PS3 release in 2006, all their games are PS3 exclusive moving forward, with no PS2 version in development. Same thing happen during the transition from PS3 to PS4 in 2013.

Here's some examples of exclusive games in Year 1 by Sony's first-party studios, which weren't release on previous generation hardware.

PS3 (2006 - 2007) - Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, The Eye of Judgment, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

No PS2 version.

PS4 (2013 - 2014) - Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, Driveclub, Resogun, Knack (The Order: 1886 were initially slated to release end of 2014, but got delayed to early 2015)

No PS3 version.

i remember seeing a headline where series X went OOS in 8 minutes.
series s isnt really "next gen". i dont see a reason it exist tbh

maybe give a chance for people who do not own a 4k tv yet.. i know that entry level 4k tv is dirt cheap now.. but i think there are still people out there.. or maybe for a bed room console + game pass.. cause the 299 price really is not bad with the promise to run series x games..

Ignoring ps2 users, yes. Because Sony got complacent. 599 USD. They only managed to comeback towards the end of the generation and that is given Microsoft still didn’t have the Japanese market that generation.

Backward compatible or cross generation is almost essential now because games development is taking longer so there’s going be a lack of games during launch.

Microsoft solves this easily because all their consoles are directx base, so it’s essentially like getting a new pc and still able to play old games with better visuals.

Plus traditionally Japanese are rather crude when designing new consoles, they don’t build on the previous generation and just move on with their custom solutions (emotion engine, cell, and to some extend checkerboard rendering). PS3 was so different that the first version has a ps2 chip in it to run ps2 games instead of emulating it (thus causing the price) and now there’s no way to emulate games from that console.

Actually, did anyone here buy the fringe accessories for PS5 like the camera? I realize no one has been talking about it. Not even sure any of the retailers allow pre-order for it.

I bought the camera when the PS4 was first launched, mainly to try out the Just Dance series (the Kinect craze was still ongoing then). But ended up not using it much, especially since I'm not a streamer. So I skipped the camera this time.

No point getting this camera now. What games uses it?

For the budget gamers, actually i see quite a big potential market for this especially bundle tgt with game pass.

It's like flagship vs mainstream phone, most of the consumer who are not that keen into latest & high end tech will pick the more affordable one.

xbox game pass is currently still superior to shitty psn + .

If sony still offers nothing close to xbox game pass next year , I imagine most gamers gonna flock to xbox for more value especially those who also own a gaming pc like me.
Since game exclusively only last for few mths or 1 year nowadays :s22:

Could be interesting if android platform is bundled somehow in the future .
Anyways its win-win for the consumers :s12:
