Simplified example with no discount
1000 shares of ocbc at $9.00 worth $9000
U recieve $90 dividends or 10 shares at $90

Whichever choice u opt for
Your total value becomes $9090 (cash) $9090 (shares)

U guys understand this point first or not?

If u understand this point than script dividends is not zero dollar assigned, its the same as using your cash to purchase shares from open market

When adding script shares, if u wanna keep proper numbers u should key in the script price instead or zero

As simple as that

But anyway at the end of the day its up to the individual

never kept track of the discussion..
but script dividend and cash dividend is different.
when you take cash dividend, the value of $900 in 2012 will be $900 in 2014.
when you take script dividend, the value of $900 in 2012 might be $500 or $1500 in 2014 depending on which way the share price goes.
So your portfolio value will be different.

for me, i will manually enter scrip dividend and cash dividend to account for the differences.
