why some accounts are left version, some accounts are right version
I have answered a similar question earlier in the thread but I will expand on this. Basically, Shopee or SEA their parent company need to show to their investors/shareholders that they have this number of active users and it is growing quarter on quarter. Their definition of active users is based on their own internal algorithm ie a set number of purchases and/or dollar amount spent within a certain timeframe.
So this 50% voucher is for Shopee users who are not active users under their own definition, hence, when they use the voucher and buy something on Shopee, it boosts their numbers. Secondly, they used to give 50% discount via Citibank and there was a period of about two to three weeks I could collect both 50% cashback and 50% Citibank discount at 12pm everyday except for those special days 8/8 and 7/7 etc. Now, only left with 50% cashback coz they learn they should lock you in with the coins. You have to spend the coins on their platform before the expiry date and I noticed less and less vendors accepting Shopeepay. So 200 coins a day accumulated over 30 days is $60 worth of coins which expires in 2 months once you click item received.
And now this also boost their total number of transactions, that is why this 50% cashback campaign has been going on for so long. Instead of accumulating several small items in your cart and then you buy using those $60 minus $6 credit card discount as one transaction, now you spilt it into 15 transactions of $4 each everyday at 12pm. It makes their user base look much more active.
All these are my own speculation and opinion. I would stay away from Shopee/SEA stocks and continue enjoying the 50% as long as they last.
