For the new SingTel S$6 5G Senior plan, no need to recontract after 12 months. The price remains at S$6 per month.
But they still have time-limited components like Caller ID and Talkmore (24 mo) that are still not part of the base plan, which still requires action on the parts of the seniors at some point of time.

Unless they are saying "Caller ID is not important. Let seniors pick up all calls."

Could you point me to them? From the Sim Only plans site, there is no mention of the latest TnC.

I've found these 2 on the current web site as of now:
https://www.singtel.com/personal/mobile/plans/sim-only/tncs
https://www.singtel.com/personal/terms/postpaid-mobile-terms
Need to click into the plan to see the TnC
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/eform/sg60-simonly-seniors -> all the way to the bottom, first tick box
https://cdn1.singteldigital.com/con.../12mar26-seniors-6-dollars-340gb-atl-tncs.pdf

Note: After 12 months contract, customers’ monthly subscription remain at $6/month with the stated benefits. Any excess usage outside of plan allowance will be chargeable.

Thanks. Explains why I couldn't find it.

Glad for the confirmation and updates. Will plan to shift my parents onto the plan once their current contracts run out. Caveat as they are presently subsidiary lines under my sisters' name, so we will need to check if it may be possible to do an ownership transfer to their names and sign them up.

Reading through it and paying careful attention to the legalese, there are 2 types of customers outlined in the tnc - "Customers" and "Eligible customers". The difference suggests there could be a tiering.

I also document the above in the following thread. For those who are interested to know the latest offers, you may want to bookmark the thread and I will try to keep it up to date from time to time.

This is the counterpart for the ISP offer thread in the Fibre Broadband forum section,

Unfortunately the moderators in this Mobile forum sections ignore my request to make this thread sticky...

... idk why but I feel it's kinda unfair that working adults don't get such deals when they're the 'sandwiched class' that also deserves the cost-cutting that retirees enjoy. just imagine retirees enjoying those massive data plans watching drama videos on their phones... paying peanuts.

no wonder Singaporeans are an unhappy lot.

I think people don't realise retirees today have very little money. Let's simplify to dollars and cents.

It was common for some of the PG to be earning $90-$400 a month. By the time they retired, $3000 was a "high" salary. This was a time when hawker centre food was still $1.50/$2. They paid less, sure, but they also earned less. They were also single-income, often depending on the wife to be homemaker and caregiver. Now, let's say they saved 20% (which is not likely given the cost of school fees etc), each month on a $2500 salary. That's $500/mo, or $6k a year. Working 40y, that's only $240k before they retired some 20+ years ago. This is assuming all that money was saved and no unexpected expenses. Now note that this money did not increase for inflation. They lived with bank interests which were shrinking. They were not equipped for today's cost inflation prices.

Today, they have less than those absolute savings, with no income - because they have had to spend their savings to subsist in Singapore. There are many adults today, "sandwich class", who still give their parents $200-300. And in that interim? Living costs have gone up. Suddenly there's this need for a mobile phone. If you speak to some of these seniors in their 70s (who are MG, not PG), they have less than $100k in savings with no income - some I know have only about 40-50k left in their banks+CPF. Would you still be expecting them to be paying $40 for a plan?

I work in social services - that's why I travel a lot around heartlands and visit clients' flats. I experience poor network connectivity in homes and many blind spots for all our telcos on a daily basis. I see a lot of these bank statements today, and it is heartbreaking. Yes, the sandwich generation struggle to support down and up - but this is a systemic problem that has roots elsewhere. Also, there is much to be said for some of these who are complaining about costs of living but will travel often, etc etc...

The cheap senior plans were brought on by IMDA's senior go digital initiative. Not sure if they subsidize plans but I won't be surprised if they do.

Seniors are also less likely to use roaming entitlements and less likely to hog the network at critical choke points (peak hour mrt, events...)

Right now gomo is offering their value plan at $5.50 for first month. ST MVNOs are offering plans at $7-8. This isn't much more expensive than the senior plans, though you do have to shop around and port frequently for the best deals.

I tend to think the new terms and conditions does not apply to the old SG60 offer. Better confirm with SingTel.

lol. yea...that's why i say there's only incentives for the new sign-ups.... no incentive to stay lol.

I've a SIM only line that's being used by the parent from Day 1, now a $15.28 plan.

I've been thinking how I can switch this number to a Senior plan (to cut cost) without having to visit an outlet, since it'd mean having to change ownership.

I am thinking the same. Wondering if we have to port out to an interim operator first (with a ownership change), then port back.

But I know my parents would be complaining about the hassle. I might have to go down and settle in person for both of them.

Looks like going down to a Singtel Shop is the way to go in this case. They may be able to help.

My concern is if both owners have to be present. Would be different if I can do it on my own without the parent having to go all the way there.

You can just get them to sign individual letters of authorisation to authorise you; LOR must state both your NRIC no and their NRIC nos. Bring their physical NRIC + Silver cards with you.

Also include their contact numbers in the respective LOAs so the ST staff can call them to verify if needed.

I am guessing we may need to pay the line transfer charges for each line. Don't think ST will waive these costs.

Try to use your negotiation power.

Successful story : FOC transfer of ownership to go with SingTel SIM Only S$6 Senior Plan, at a SingTel physical shop.

I went to cwp singtel shop to transfer ownership from my name to my mum's name and port into the senior plan. The singtel staff gave me a FOC ownership transfer saying since my mum is a senior ,they can do it for free this time.

Ops. Yea that is the $6 12 mths contract one. 😄 but iam also surprised that singtel will exercised flexibility nowadays as they are known for very money minded .maybe lost quite alot of customers nowadays.

For ownership transfer in store , both parties have to be present to do the transfer. Another way is through online but both parties need to have one pass account to do the transfer. Would be better to do in store as I managed to get a free ownership transfer from my name to my mum's name saving $21.80 😀 no need bang table with them or what , just talk to ppl nicely and ppl will tend to help u back. 😀
