I don't see why a no-equipment Seniors plan should require re-contracting every 12 months.

Does a senior stop being a senior after 1y? What's the logic behind forcing seniors to go back to recontract every year?

IMDA should step in with some common sense. When Seniors hit the age, then give them the plan in perpetuity. The exception comes when they sign an equipment plan, then they are bound to that plan's terms for the length of the contract. After the 24-month contract, then making the seniors downgrade to the $6 plan makes sense.
We no longer have effective and practical leaders and it's seen across the entire industry and governance. That is why - doing for the sake of doing. :o

You can just get them to sign individual letters of authorisation to authorise you; LOR must state both your NRIC no and their NRIC nos. Bring their physical NRIC + Silver cards with you.

Also include their contact numbers in the respective LOAs so the ST staff can call them to verify if needed.

I am guessing we may need to pay the line transfer charges for each line. Don't think ST will waive these costs.
Yup, I used this approach previously,
Digital copy of LOA/LOR, then proceed down to shop and bring all required documents like NRIC/Passion etc.

For ownership transfer in store , both parties have to be present to do the transfer. Another way is through online but both parties need to have one pass account to do the transfer. Would be better to do in store as I managed to get a free ownership transfer from my name to my mum's name saving $21.80 😀 no need bang table with them or what , just talk to ppl nicely and ppl will tend to help u back. 😀
Agreed, unless required no need to be rude unless meet those guailan ones. :s22:

I think it's a purely commercial decisions.

I think this is a purely commercial issue and the govt shouldn't interfere too much; we vote with our money to the telcos and hopeful they will value seniors more. For all it's worth, Singapore's mobile plan pricing is super low. I pay much more in Taiwan & Indonesia for mobile and home internet. Heck my apt internet is only 100-150Gbps where I'm staying and Singapore users already enjoying 1Gbps++ on mobile!

Sorry, if you are comparing to standards lower than the comparison isn't suitable in my opinion.
Can't everything also rely on "commercial decisions", that's why we end up with a lot of the mess we are having in SG right now.

There needs to be a balance of "free market" & controlled regulation which the agencies need to be proactive than reactive but unfortunately the latter mostly.

Then again singtel is offering contract free senior plans through their sub brands at the same price point. Other telcos do offer them as well.

So I don't see why the government should intervene and block singtel from offering contract plans.

Sure, relying on hopes and dreams is definitely better then if we go by this.
Better keep bear with it when such deals/recognition doesn't happen since that's how Singapore prefers and we are better than our neighbours etc. already.

Late stage capitalism at its best. :p

I've a SIM only line that's being used by the parent from Day 1, now a $15.28 plan.

I've been thinking how I can switch this number to a Senior plan (to cut cost) without having to visit an outlet, since it'd mean having to change ownership.

nope, this $6 senior plan only for new sign up or port in.

u can try go shop and ask. Maybe they can go leeway
Most of the time i went their outlet, no people except occasionally senior.... lol.

Yes my intention is to port somewhere else to change ownership then to this Singtel Senior. I already knew about the new sign up and port in only, thank you.

For port in, u need the actual person to be present to sign the documents.
For ownership transfer, u can use LOA to transfer on behalf.
If both of u got singtel account, can transfer online.

No, ownership transfer isn't free. it cost $21.80
yes, the staff got the power to waive the charges. But so far i encounter, they will attempt to charge everything.

Good initiative.

Except the last part, for users of old phones.

iOS 26.4: iPhone XS, XS Max and XR or earlier iPhones will not have.

Android 12: even more Android phones will not be supported, like Poco F1 and Poco X2.

More specifically, SG Alert is only supported on phones running on the latest Apple operating system (iOS) 26.4, or latest Google Android operating system OS 12.

I thought cell broadcast is not dependent on the OS of the phone... Anyway good service to have.

Those holding to older phones actually can contribute to the overall economy. When you know how to earn, must also know how to spend. Upgrade phones! HAHA!

Patch up phones OS to latest for bug fixes and security vulnerabilities, so I think is good.

This is my impression too otherwise, it defeats the purpose of a universal broadcast.
But I guess my knowledge isn't sufficient to understand this and got to have a reason why its as such.

So my SIM only $15.28/mth plan is expiring next month (less than a month left) and I received this SMS with this link

<ADV>Limited time! Unlock 250GB at $15.28/mth + 2GB Malaysia roaming + 1mth of MobileSwop Starter and Mobile Protect on our SIM Only plan. Sign up now! Visit https://s.t.singtel.com/QrcjwZC0 or call 6538 1121 by 6 May 2026. T&Cs apply.<Opt out: SMS UNSUB to 78910>

Clicked on the link and signed up for it. Received the service agreement form and new contract starts on 28th April.

its the exact same as my current plan with the option for mobile swop and mobile protect.

i don't need the extra Malaysian roaming data as I have Simba 2nd line for that.
