is there no diff between 5G speed and 4G speed now? im thinking between the $20 4g speed or $45 5g speed

for normal consumer, seriously, unlikely they will feel a difference since 4G speed is also quite decent now for whatever they can do on the go. unless one is playing online mobile game on the go, else one will really not be able to take advantage of 5G as of now.

from 3G to 4G, it is a big jump in user experience but seriously it is not the same amount of jump a user can experience from 4G to 5G.

While the download speeds are good and practically no use here, I think the latency can be better

Hi friends,

Cross-posting here for general awareness

I had a horrible experience with Singtel's SIM ONLY PLAN.

For context, I signed my parents up for SIM Only 20GB plan as below:
uIGlde.jpg

When the bill came, I found I was being charged $39 instead of $25. Dived into the billing and realised that the extra 10GB was being broken down into 9+1 and they charge me $5 monthly for that 1GB extra. Did the recontracting online so couldn't check the contract before signing and only realised when they sent the Customer Service Agreement later. My fault here for blind trust in Singtel.

Called CS agent and they are insistent that the 1 additional GB was part of the plan and you cannot cancel it without paying the contract termination fee. (then why advertise as $25 when actual fact is $25+5?

Total I'm paying close to $40 because of all the additional charges (1GB additional : $4.67 + caller ID $5 + $25 monthly).

Just a warning for anyone who want to sign up for Singtel sim only, don't be surprised if they charge you extra for BS additional data and there's no recourse because their CS will just repeat the same lines over and over again.

i think Singtel have to come clean on this. Caller ID cannot run. McAfee can cancel?

Email to IMDA now, make an official complaint and don’t reply to Singtel until IMDA revert for unfair dealings.

Singtel needs to be made accountable for their BS sales team

If we still have contract on 1yr sim only plan, do we have to wait till contract end then can sign another 1 yr sim only plan?

Yes. Towards the end of the contract period, usually they will send you the recontract offer SMS or Email, say about one month or two weeks before the contract expire date. But even if you do not receive the SMS/Email offer, or you are not happy with the offer, you can still click the link mentioned here (https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/eform/simonlycampaign) and usually they will accept as long as you are existing NON-CIS Singtel Mobile postpaid customers (eg: Singtel SIM Only, XO, or legacy plans).

Sometimes they may send you recontract offer SMS/Email a bit earlier. In that case, just click the SMS/Email offer link if you are happy with the offer.

Some people are very good at negotiating with Singtel to get even better offers than the link, as reported in this forum section, say, extra one to three months free, but I tend to think they may have more leverages, or they have very good negotiation power...

For those who want 5G because of the deterioration of Singtel 4G Coverage (eg: East-West MRT lines), there are three choices now for Singtel 5G SIM Only Plus plans.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/postpaid-plans/simonly

1) SIM Only Plus 30 + paid 5G Access Add-on --> 60 GB data, first three months 100GB 5G data, after that need to pay for 5G Access Add-on at promotional price (eg: S$1 per month for 6 months) or usual price of S$5.04 per month.

Existing Singtel mobile users -- S$20.19 recontract offer + S$5.04 = S$25.23 per month (without promotion)
Recontract offer link: https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/eform/simonlycampaign

Please double check with Singtel on the S$5.04 per month price as the listed price is S$10.08 per month.

For new users, it is better to sign up the SIM Only Plus 45 to have a better deal for 5G, since the baseline cost is already at S$30.28.

2) SIM Only Plus 45 --> 120GB 5G data, S$36.34 per month

3) SIM Only Plus 55 --> 180GB 5G data, S$44.41 per month
