Looking at the above scenario, does it mean that when we want to receive calls and text on our roaming Singtel line, we've to turn on DATA ROAMING even when ROAMING DATA is set from another line?

TBH, I find it strange having to turn on DATA ROAMING when we're not specifically going to use that feature.

I'm playing with the thought of porting a line to eventually sit on the $15.28 plan, since Maxx 5G is minimum $12 now. It's going to be a supporting line for Simba in same iPhone.

So from above, I port to the $40 no contract plan, then one month later submit an application for the $15.28 one? (What I'm afraid is that, instead of rejecting my application after which I'd port out to Maxx, they'd throw the line into the $20.37 contract plan. Happened to a friend who's given the more expensive contract though he applied for $15.28, though they later admitted it's a mistake and rectified it.)

Or should I just forget it and port directly to Maxx $12 5G?

1) No need to turn on data roaming to receive SMS (free) or calls (chargeable and pretty expensive). I just came back from a short one week visit to China myself. I used SIMBA S$12 plan for roaming data and roaming voice. I also disabled roaming data for my main SingTel line. When I received a call from my main SingTel line, I ignored the call and later used SIMBA to call back.

2) If you are keen on the Singtel S$15.28 plan, just go with the no contract S$40 5G+ Enhanced Core plan and recontract to the S$15.28 plan. It should work as per the reports here.

I will say SingTel S$15.28 plan is a good one to use for local usage, if you are willing to pay, after trying different plans on different networks.

1) SingTel S$15.28 SIM Only recontract offer, main line
2) StarHub Prepaid S 5G plan (mainly for number parking, S$3 per month)
3) M1 Maxx S$10 plan with 5G (just used for one month, ported out already to CUniq)
4) Eight S$8 4G (will keep as a backup and roaming)
5) CUniq S$9.9.4G (mainly to test China roaming, will port out soon, probably to CMLink to try out SingTel MVNO)
6) SIMBA S$12 (mainly to test China roaming, but also to check how good/bad is SIMBA for local usage, terminated already, just used for one month)
7) Circles.life 5G free three months trial (free, so just try, will cancel before the expire date)

Then I have Singtel Prepaid and M1 Prepaid as well.

Welcome home !!

Hope that u had an enjoyable trip, weather should be nice. In Beijing, it was -7 when I was there.

I managed to resolve my issue with SingTel & will be porting out from Eight soon. It was actually due to a cyberattack back in 2021 which my account was affected then. Taking up the $40 plan & try recontract in a month.

If I port over to a $40 non contract plan, can I do a $15.28 contract plan after 1 month?

Interestingly our two SingTel SIM Only S$15.28 lines behave differently when receiving calls but not picking up.

My one: call would end.
My wife one: it will ask the caller to leave a voice message.

Both lines were under my name and were converted from SingTel Combo 2 plans a few years ago.

So looks like voice message function may be available. Need to see how to disable the function as it may incur high roaming voice charges when overseas.

I sent in my applications for 4 lines(1 CIS-Enhanced M plan + 3 mobileshare) yesterday at 2pm and today received the service agreements for all 4 lines by 3:25pm(3 by this late morning, last by 3:25pm). All successfully approved for the $15.28 SOP. :)

This could be because your Coombo 2 plan for your wife had voice mail add-on service. Previously Singtel plans, I always ask to drop the voice mail add-on service to preclude incurring unnecessary roaming voice charges when I'm overseas.

Post #4 of the above thread talks about Singtel SIM Only Recontract offer.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...ly-plans-in-singapore.7167328/#post-157724343

Latest Singtel SIM Only Recontract offers:
Not for new customers including port-ins.

You only need to fill in the form, no need to call in 1688 or WhatsApp Singtel.

You only need to select Option 1 which is the best offer now. The others are just for backup in case Singtel rejects your order (unlikely if you belong to Type A or Type B below).

A) For Singtel SIM Only Plan users with 12 months contract, usually you can recontract with the S$15.28 per month plan link at the 10th month or 11th month.

B) For Singtel Mobile plans with 24 months contract, you may have to try the recontract only towards the end of the contract, say two weeks before.

C) For Singtel SIM Only Plan users without contract, you can try the S$15.28 per month link after finishing one month or two months. YMMV even though there are some successful stories.

Hmm, both Combo 2 lines had voice mail add-on service. I believe that was the default for Singtel Mobile Combo plans.

But yes, it is a good idea to disable voice mail function to avoice extra voice roaming charges.

Now I need to figure how to disable the voice mail function. I will contact Singtel WhatsApp for help.

Yes, best is to call in IMO. Last time I used to do it when I sign the plan with the agent.

Hi all. I have the $15.xx Singtel plan (SIM 1) and $8 Eight plan (SIM 2). SIM 1 data roaming off. SIM 2 data roaming ON. Im in Philippines now and cannot receive SMS/OTP on SIM 1. Why?

Solved:

Found out DATA ROAMING (NETWORK) in Singtel app was OFF. Switching it ON solved the problem.

I have experienced this issue with my SingTel SIM. I had difficulty connecting to local mobile network - it was emergency calls only. My DATA ROAMING (NETWORK) in Singtel app was OFF too.

However, switching it ON would allow my phone connect straight to the network after i flight mode.

But there is some city or country, i do not have to do that and able to connect to the telco to receive sms normally.

This is super weird for SingTel.....

That's what I thought all along until I came across that post.

If we're not using data from the Singtel line while roaming, we shouldn't have to turn on data roaming especially from the app. I'm one of those who were having difficulty connecting to Malaysian network from my old Singtel line, thus had to switch my primary line to Simba.
