travelled quite a bit today. At bukit panjang where usually its 5G, most of the time mine is 4G. This happened when I was at Toa Payoh central as well. My house carpark lot in the east has dropped to 4G. In my case, the signal has gone worse.
why they wanna shutdown nsa when sa is so jialat ?

The IMDA regulatory deadline for this transition was established between late 2025 and early 2026 across local providers and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs). To maintain 5G connectivity, subscribers are required to upgrade to compatible 5G SA SIM cards and service plans

I was at djitsun mall. When I had my m1 slightly more than a year ago, certain area had no network. Changed to SingTel a year back, I had 5G signal. Today, it’s just 4G. But one thing I note - while the signal is 4G, I could stream Netflix. So I suspect, previously when I had 5G signal, it’s likely the 4G equivalent(?) So the signal drop from 5G to 4G, may not be as bad as we thought.. gonna observe a bit more then share here. I would say right now, for the places that I frequent, 30-40% of the time are 4G right now.

Does sound like it was 5G NSA (ie, on the 4G network, signalling etc).

5G SA is "real 5G". NSA is shutting down.

Interesting to see such high percentage of 4G (30% to 40%) compared to 5G SA for SingTel network.

Just wondering which areas you frequent.

Another thing, are you using an iPhone? The reports seem to indicate iPhones tend to have poorer signal receptions than decent Android phones.

Guess I am lucky here in the Jurong West areas.

On the other hand, it is true that 4G connection with strong signal may be better than 5G SA/NSA network with weak 5G signal.

It is just that I seldom encounter such areas. When I do not have 5G data connections in some places (especially inside lifts), there will be no 4G data connections either. Probably related to the places I frequent.

I had doubts whether SingTel could shutdown 5G NSA network by 30 June 2026, but looks like they are really executing the shutdown process.

That being said, it could be that SingTel may still retain some 5G NSA deployment for indoor areas. Let's see.

20th June. Since today, Singtel 5G NSA disappeared in many areas. I’m now on 4G only

Still have quite a lot NSA in indoor like malls. Outside very little

Was at orchard today. 2 diff phones. 1 on “5G auto“ almost always default to 4G. The other “5G on“ managed to latch onto 5G more often.

I guess it's about time to switch my 1528 line settings from 5G Auto to 5G On?

Been using only 5G Auto coz I feel their 5G not as stable to rely fully on it. But now that they're shutting 5G NAS, does it make sense to just to put 5G On already? :o

I stay in the east so the places i frequent are from Paya Lebar to Jewel (e.g., PLQ, Eunos, Parkway Parade, Bedok Mall/ Djitsun Mall). RP is where I work, so i get to test the signal when i train down to RP during peak hours.

West side is where my parents stay so every alternative week, i will head to the west side like bukit panjang/CCK. So ended up get to experiment the signal more. And yes, sadly, for my use case, i get more drop to 4G. When my signal drop to 4G, i will check with my wife's mobile and its consistent. Both of us are on the 1528 plan.

oh thats a good point. Maybe i should set it to 5G On. But just to share, there was once i was in JB and i left my iPhone setting to "5G On". I think whenever i am in JB, i tend to get 4G Celcom. So for that one occasion, maybe because i set it to "5G On", i ended up w no network instead of the fall back to 4G. Ever since i changed to "5G Auto", no issue. Will need to experiment a bit here in SG.

It will be better if you are willing to pay. The question is whether it is worth the money or not.

You can try the prority pass to see how you like it first, S$19.90 for the monthly pass. Then decide from there.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/mobile/5g-plus/5g-plus-priority-pass

Some users think Singtel SIM Only Priority plan is worth it -- especially with the extra line.
https://www.singtel.com/personal/mobile/plans/sim-only

Priority Plus at S$41.25 per month
1 additional mobile line that shares your plan’s local data, talktime, SMS

Priority Ultra at S$60 per month
1 additional mobile line that shares your plan’s local data, talktime, SMS and Worldwide Roaming (up to 18GB)

Whether can finish 5G NSA shutdown by 30 Jun, I can monitor for you :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: my plan only has NSA provisioned.

Im on singtel $15.xx plan. Recentely went to Bali. I configured this way to avoid any charges.

  • In the My Singtel App: Keep Data Roaming (Network) toggled ON.
  • On your physical phone settings: Turn Data Roaming strictly OFF.
I used SIM 2 (Eight Telco) for data roaming.

Yet I was charged for AutoRoam (PAYR) and for rejecting an incoming call. Toatal $27.67 instead of $15.xx. Whenever i go overseas I always get these type of charges sneaked in - ONLY for SingTel. It is time to quit Singtel.

If i go to Starhub Senior Plan $6, will these things happen too?

did you try to activate call forwarding from your singtel number to eight number? wondering if that would
- avoid roaming charges since it's forwarded to a SG number
- allow you to still pick up the call (from eight number) and use the free 3GB int. roaming (VoLTE) from eight?

u do know that by forwarding a call to another number = call out to another number ?

incoming call to SG number (Telco A) forward to SG number B (Telco B, while free voice roaming under Telco C overseas) - will Telco A charge roaming fees?

Your settings are supposed to be the correct one. I use the same settings and never got charged when roaming. In fact I used the exact same SingTel S$15.28 plan plus eight S$8 plan for roaming during my short trip to China in December 2025. I rejected two calls from a government agency and used eight to call back.

On the other hand I seldom travel. So my experiences may not be the same as those who travel often.

It could be due to dual SIM settings.

Starhub S$12 (S$6 with Passion Card offer) senior plan will be fine as it offers free roaming voice calls and SMS (both incoming and outgoing). The roaming data bundle are too little but you can use your eight Mobile line for that. eight also offer free roaming voice (incoming and outgoing), but no free outgoing roaming SMS.

The only drawback is that you lose the network redundancy since eight is also using Starhub network.

I would also go to Starhub Senior Plan in this case if I were qualified (not yet qualified 50+ years old now).

There are many discussions in the forum about how to avoid roaming voice charges for Singtel and Singtel MVNOs in this forum, in the end, no sure working solutions.

Good move from Zym and VIVIFI -- provide 10 minutes per month free incoming voice calls.

hi all, so if i am in overseas, i just dont accept or reject the call that is fine right? Was on enhance lite plan previously and i just let the call rang through. I didnt get any charge by Singtel. This is the same for the 1528 plan is it?
