While they say you have to complete the 12 month cycle, in my experience you can port out within the 12th month and not incur additional penalty beyond the month's full subscription.

The TOS/contract states that your early termination penalty is to pay the remaining outstanding monthly subscription. If you prepay your next month's subscription (which is the default), you can consider that as having been paid and initiate the porting out within the month itself.

Yeah. I ported out my contract like 30 Sep (using your example) to Vivifi cos I wanted the roaming data for my Australia trip.

No extra penalty cos the final month was already paid. They refunded whatever balance after that because ST still bills in advance unlike Vivifi.

Parents had similar experience with StarHub some years back - we ported them to Singtel seniors. Was at an underground lab in the old SGH NCC where there was very poor SH reception (0-1 bars) but 4 bars ST reception. They were not going to deploy a point cos the building was due to be decommissioned. Parents couldn't call me to pick them up cos mom suddenly felt dizzy, so that experience made them port out to ST asap - I think was the towards the end of the 2nd last month of their contract, so we timed it to 1 month.

Thanks. I have seen that.

I am thinking about waiting for a while to see if anything better would pop up. Currently mine is 550GB local data + some MY roaming data + 1000min call and sms + free caller id @ $15.xx.

By the way, regarding the unlimited data, the tnc says that the data x infinity addon applies. And the data x infinity tnc mentions thr fair usage policy, which means for monthly usage above 50gb the connection speed is capped at 1mbps. Does that mean we can only use up to 50gb at normal speed with this package? If yes that is very bad
