Cingjing farm quite big. need 3 hours to explore. walk from the north entrance to the windmill also need 1 hour. still need to explore carton king, swiss garden.

last time i went for cingjing farm + hehuan mountain tour. tour guide didn't even have time to bring us to the windmill.

there is another tour which excludes hehuan mtn but allow visitors to have more time in cingjing farm, swiss garden and carton king.
The drive to hehuanshan is about 2h back n forth, not including stopover.
We even hike up the two nearby peaks.
Advantage is we stayed overnight there, so did one for each day.

1/2 day to complete?!?!?!
Also need time to travel up lor.
I cannot do in 1/2 day seriously.

Ha ha Cingjing quite small to me. The sheeps there are like domestic pets. In the morning see the sheep show, then walk around the hill. By noon prob finish liao lol. Zhen de no need tour guide lol. The swiss garden also quite small leh and they still charge entrance fee. The place feel quite man made/touristy. Is not the kind of real rustic farm/area you see in Australia / China / Thailand.

Ya excluding the travelling time and hehuan mtn.

Ok lah good to stay in Minsu for 1 night as you get to see the beautiful night and morning view.

No need guide is correct.

For Cing Jing, I did a 2D1N there.

We reached our accom at about lunch time. Went over to Cing Jing Farm. After that went to the Skywalk and walked down to swiss garden. Entered Swiss Garden (honestly nothing much) and then took the public bus up to our accommodation and ate chicken in a restaurant nearby.

Next morning, 4:30am pickup for sunrise tour, About 7:30/8am went back at accom. Had breakfast, slept a bit before checking out. Had lunch at Old England before heading back down to Taichung.

To be honest, would be a lot better if we drove/hired driver but as there were only two of us, we opted for public transport and tours + a lot of walking..

I really enjoyed the scenery there. Felt really good to be high up on the mountains!

Hi we are going to Taiwan for 10D9N in March. Plan to self-drive and visit Hualien and Taitung. Can suggest itinerary? TIA

Land in taipei or kaohsiung? Going home from taipei or kaohsiung?

Apologies for the lack of information. Will be landing and departing from Taipei. This is my 2nd trip to Taiwan. Previously went to Kenting, Kaohsiung and Tainan, which was back in 2015.

This time, plan to self-drive. Was thinking take car after landing at Taipei around 3PM-4PM, then head to Keelung, Hualien and Taitung. Then return car at Taitung and take train back to Taipei, plan for 3/4 days at Taipei.

Or would it be better to do the other way round? Take train direct from Taipei to Taitung and take car at Taitung, and return at Taipei.

you probably want to consider which is more convenient or less stress for you.

imo, i'd drive first and take the train back to taipei. bitter first sweet later, as the chinese sayings go.

If I drive first, I will be at Hualien on weekends, is Taroko crowded then? Would you recommend exploring Taroko on weekdays instead?

That's a valid consideration as well. May be more relaxing taking the train without the extra weight haha.

But if I want to take the train to taitung on the day of my arrival, I would have to commute to Taipei right? Don't see any train option from Taoyuan on Thursday evening.

I'm budgeting about 6-7 days to explore places outside of Taipei i.e. drive Taipei-Taitung or drive Taitung-Taipei, is that too much? What are the recommended places of interest between Taipei and Taitung?

Ideally fly into kaohsiung n proceed.
In any case, like such, will have to get tickets from taipei to taitung.
Can pm me to grab tickets.
Hear from you soon.

i dun buy things, so not a big consideration. even if i buy, it should go into the luggages, so no differences whether take train or drive.

without the chinese tourists crowd now, i believe no difference between weekdays and weekends. just avoid the taiwan holiday period as it will be jam everywhere.
