Actually not really issue. Just like how people go neighbouring country doing day trip on weekend. Traffic and immigration might take longer than 2-3hours already.

Solo or couple maybe but TS with kid, so better to have more time to enjoy and relax.

true... now I am planning to go from taipei to KS, then do all the activities needed and stay there for 1 night, next day to taichung maximise whole day then night time return to taipei...

think should be doable... taichung plan will need to think again though....

If go Taichung should not miss the Fengjia night market but enough time to take train back to Taipei

Can get reserve seat but subject to availability. Usually if not their public holiday or big event like black pink concert, election etc, you should be able to get.

Yes Kaohsiung return trip ticket already cost more than the 3days pass. Even if you been to Taipei so many times， there will always be something new to see de. Like June there is food fair exhibition， you can go ssll

Book early 35% off and take the train to Zuoying.

Go by HSR is not bad, but for overnight is far too short. I reckon you spend like 3D2N at least.

Usually I stay around Kaohsiung train station though.

i havent research but other than taipei, places like 台中，嘉义，高雄, etc is it easy to travel around that area or need to hire car/taxi to get around?

ya lor... cos we go taiwan is no longer sight seeing le... hahaha... just go there eat and shop... worst case scenario would be rent 1 night in KS to minimise damage, cos really feel like going to the Dream Mall to see see look look...

last night research abit on E-Da theme park, seems like a bit boring and expensive... so now researching for other cities to go instead of KS... Hahahaha.... Moi ish need to make sure my wife say interesting to go...

Wahahaha... so far we only went to CJ to see meh meh... the rest like maokong and other farms, we never put it on priority... But I may consider going to the alpaca farm...

A bit hard to meet up to eat with you... hahaha... we are quite choosy with food... LOL... Sorry sorry...

why dream mall? different from other malls?

cos i was in Taipei during Dec22, then saw the opening launch for that mall but didn't have a chance to go... so wanna go and see got anything to walk then also walk their NM.... Although could be same food but just walk walk see see look look lor... hahahaha....

Taiwan west side transport no problem, east side need to research more

E-Da theme park I went in 2014, already look old, now even worst bah. Can skip.
