E-Go bus Cingjing to Taipei ( tour bus 600 per pax) or Cingjing to Taipei 4-5 hrs. Will stop at puli winery for break, can go in or walk around.

Roughly got my dec itinerary but not sure how the flow should go... maybe u guys can help to reorganize the itinerary? Number of nights can be adjusted to suit the itinerary but best is can keep to at least 12-14 days...

Taipei (4-6 nights)
Beitou, YMS, Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu etc
Should i stay 1 night at YMS to do daytrip to Beitou? Or another 1 night at Wulai?

Tai Chung (2 nights)
Any recommendations?

Tai Nan (2 nights)
Any recommendations?

Sun Moon Lake (2 nights)

Alisan or Yushan(1 night)

Taroko Gorge

Got 3 young kids and 1 elderly so prefer not to have long walks or on difficult terrain... will be hiring private driver on most of those days except for 1-2 days in taipei to self explore...

is it advisable to travel directly to Taichung or Tainang after landing at Taipei 4:30pm? Or should i stay 1 night at Taipei first then proceed south? Prefer to put Taipei at the last leg of the itinerary to do shopping...

Straight to taichung or tainan.
Not advisable to go up north then south then north.

Normally should go to the furthest city first then slowly travel back to the end destination.
Since you are landing late afternoon, you can choose to stay a night in Taoyuan or Taichung, Taipei is waste time. Yes, leave most of your shopping last.
My suggest route: (after 1st night)
1st night location > Tainan > Alishan + FQH > SML > Taichung > Taipei
Tainan to Alishan 1/2 day gone, so best to stay 2 nights
SML very limited for 2 nights

You don't need to stay in keelung just to go juifen and shifen area. You can stay all 6 nights in Taipei. Then arrange driver for day trip. There are many places to do day trip, example juifen/shifen/yeliu, yilan, maioli, hsinchu etc.
With kids can go flying cow.

"tot will be 1-2 hrs in car to reach yilan, Hsinchu" less than 1hr if traffic smooth. Tw goggle time not that accurate, try goggle place to place by car/train more accurate.

Not easy to insert. Hire driver can go from SML to Hualien (Taroko Gorge).
