No particular reason, just never been there and we see that its relatively near to Taipei. Looks like a pretty laid back area as well + Taroko looks beautiful!

Hualien is not close to Taipei at all, its further south of Yilan. Temps are dropping next week yeah!

Meaning good time for onsen in Yilan or Wulai etc!

Sadly I've never been to Taroko..was gonna go right before covid shut stuff down.

As others have suggested.. HSR to Nantou, Alisan will be good trips without having to get on a plane. u have many many options outside of Taipei.

Anyone has taken Express train to Taiwan Taoyuan airport before from Ximending area?

As my family need to take the Express train to Taoyuan airport on a Monday morning, am I able to buy the tickets few days before at the Express train station or can I wait until Monday early morning when I reach the Express train station to buy the tickets on the day itself? I am worried the tickets get sold out

What express train? U mean the express mrt from Taipei main station? If it is, buy on the same day. It’s a mrt, can board anytime.

The Airport Mrt is at another part of Taipei Main Station... Just treat it like another MRT/metro line... You can tap easycard at the Airport MRT gantry.

From XMD, can either take green line to Beimen metro station or take blue line to Taipei Main Station... Both stations also need to walk a bit via the underground mall to the Airport MRT station.

Estimate fare is NTD$150/160 if taking from Taipei Main Station to Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

Thanks for the reply. I did not know the airport mrt is like another MRT/metro line and can tap easycard. I thought need to pre-book in advance 'cos I saw klook app selling taoyuan airport mrt ticket (express train).

I am intending to walk 18mins from hotel to Taipei Main Station with the luggages and then take the express train(purple line) to Taoyuan airport. I hope the walking journey is manageable with the luggages and there are lifts at the Taipei main station.

U might have mistaken with the 2 metros tho n fro airport. Both run the same line but 1 is called "express train", which stops at 2 stations between airport and Taipei main station while the other train stops at 10 odds stations.

Just a question for those recently travelled to Taipei... is wave accepted now for the metro?

I will walk if I stay at xmd. Walk towards beimen station. The airport mrt is another 5min walk from beimen. The streets have wide pedestrian path, so quite easy to walk. Else, can also take mrt to beimen and walk underground to the airport station. Dun go to tms station as it is further away to the airport station than beimen.

if u have an early fight to take, just stay at Hyatt Regency Taoyuan Airport the night before. Shuttle service runs every 30 mins to and fro.

If u insist to take the MRT, then stay at Hyatt Place Xin Zhuang. Airport MRT stop is abt 8 mins walk...don't recommend it with luggage.

Can call/email ahead to reserve shuttle. Some of the flyertalk folks i know email ahead for even half day reservations. Hyatt service is always top notch. I actually missed my 5am shuttle and got on the 530am one. They called me up at 505am to ask if i am going to come down (I tot i booked 530am).

They actually have the big tour buses during peak hours..so definitely can get a seat. Again, the only reason i would stay there is if i have an insane 6/7am flight...otherwise, I don't like airport hotels in general.

Also where is Hyatt place xiin kuang?
See my review here; with some snippets about the nearby MRT station:

Oh xin zhuang no wonder cannot find the xin kuang. Just take note that if take taoyuan metro express from new taipei industrial park to airport in the morning, likely all seats will be taken so might need to stand for the next 30mins. If want to seat, then better to take from taipei main station.

yes, going from Beimen is much easier than from Taipei Main station.

we mistakenly transfer from TMS and the walk is so much longer.

I originally planned to take a train from Ruifang to Shifen. But now with the line closed due to landslide with repair targeted to complete by 30 Nov, do you know if there is any affordable alternatives?
