Today their ApplePay very reliable. Made about 10-12 transactions, only one declined, second time went through, the other transactions all first time successful.

Update: The iChange ApplePay failed twice at this specific Shell petrol kiosk at Mount Austin with the Dunkin Donuts. Have to use physical card for it to go through. So I can confirm it is the terminal at this Shell which is an issue, not iChange, coz I’ve used ApplePay at a few other Shell kiosks the past couple of days, all successful the first time.

Interesting, think there are more than 1 way to pay. Can I ask which terminal is it you are referring, at the Petrol pump or at the counter?

There's no point to exchange to banknote la since many places in msia accept TnG, only a few shops mostly running by ah gong ah mah who still prefer cold hard cash

Ichange so far is known to be offer the best rate. Convert with digital currency and then reload to TnG ewallet by adding the ichange debit card to TnG.

Click Exchange button, go to Digital Currency. You can use Paynow to convert sgd to rm.

Don't use Cash Currency hor, the rate is bad.

With YouTrip, you link your credit card and any purchase you make in foreign currency will be charged at YT's exchange rate.

With iChange, we top up the wallet (normally via PayNow) in SGD. We then do an exchange (use Digital Currency) to MYR which will also stay in the wallet. When you make a purchase in MYR, the wallet's MYR balance will be deducted first. If there's not enough MYR to cover the purchase amount, the app will then deduct the balance from the SGD (in the wallet) at their exchange rate (not the Digital Currency rate).

You need to top up your iChange wallet.

P.S. Above is AFAIK, so far I've only used iChange to top up my TnG eWallet and not made a direct purchase yet.

Like what @Habrosus mentioned, after buying ringgit in iChange, I transfer straight into TNG eWallet since most vendors and even hawkers can accept TNG payments ( for tolls and carparks via a connected TNG card. Can also connect rfid tag for NSH tolls ) , the transfer into TNG eWallet requires SMS/email OTP so best do it while in Sg ( You can of course also do that when roaming in Msia, but depending on connection it can be flaky )

Alternatively can also add iChange virtual card into Google Wallet / Apple Pay and tap the phone for payment. However came across terminals that rejects iChange virtual cards, though minority, but still frustrating especially in queues. So save all headaches just load up from iChange to TNG eWallet. I have not used their physical cards.

Best explanation! Its quite simple actually, topup tng or use apple pay or google pay using iChange. What you get is the best rate now.

Of course, there is always this saying just a few cents not worth the trouble. This is the only part I will never understand. Got so difficult meh!? In life we all know we need to have a backup plan, just use whatever is the best if can't, just change another method.

Still got trust card la, youtrip la, and whatnot that are giving good rates as well. For now iChange somehow giving the best.
