Yes, but because the app was so popular, most people I know already have the app. That's the thing about applications like these - you need a good network of users before it becomes usable, and because WhatsApp is infinitely more usable (plus faster and stable) than Ping! was, it got the nod from most of my friends. Auto-discovery of new contacts is also a brilliant stroke, since it makes it that much more usable.

the auto-discovery doesn't seems to work too well at times, my gf downloaded whatspps and despite having my friend's contact number with the international code, they can't seems to detect each other unless re-installing the app again. Any one faced the same problem?

I agree that whatsapp is the next IN thing amond iphone users,and i do save alot of sms now since most of my close pals has iphone. whatsapp also works on BB phone!

I have the similar problem as you. Until today, to refresh your contact list of who is new Whatsapp user, i have to reinstall the application to re-detect again. Regret getting this app.

Have set whatsapp to notify mode. However some messages will not be alerted. Till i 'on' whaqtsapp app then i can hear the notification tone.

It works fine for me. Like SMS, if you receive the message and slide to view before the phone goes back to sleep, then the app will be launched.

However, if you let the phone go to sleep and leave the notification on screen, when you slide to unlock, it brings you to your last state (home screen or app).

If it's from the App Store, once purchased to your account, upgrades are free.
