By The app on the or rather the settings availble in XZ basically only increases the brightness along with the back light , therefoer loosing the clarity and rich colors when in maximum ,

Here is an app which can controll it individually , indoors i like the setting 50 % on both levels to get that dark deep colors along with minimal brightness

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.ScreenDim.Full&hl=en

test ur settings and post your likings and settings config below is something intresting , the samples with the viewing angles after I have set the app to 50 - 50

Before the app with 100 % brightness check the head on screen and the side view

Samples. On xda link App - Adiust contrast and back light - xda-developers

and then after the app enable with 50% setting and additional deep viewing angle

Edit 1 i can 100% confirm viewing angles are great than ever with 50% on both... and derpest colors.. love xz more than ever...

I am going to try it LOL.

Do take note that this cable has no charging option so you cannot charge the phone while connecting to tv using HDMI.

The MHL cable which I own has another microUSB connector so that you can connect the charger toIit and charge your phone at the same time.

It does have microusb charging port at the side, read the page carefully. this adapter will not work without power source to convert the signal.

Only if you do not have HDMI and USB to microUSB cables. it still need a charger to connect the USB port to supply power.

btw, MHL adapter are standardised and can be used on most smartphone on the market--except the Samsung S3/4/note 2 which use 11pin. MHL V2--both display and phone need to support it--can draw power from TV. S3/4/note 2 can do that(+OTG) using their own 11pin adapter but since we gonna need power to prevent battery drain, the feature is sort of useless.
