Hi, my update screwed up badly.
Now can't even do repair using ***.
Anyone has any alternative I can try?

Edit: Got it to work, just by rebooting the PC...

I've update my Xperia Z to 5.0.2 yesterday.
All seems fine, no qualms abt new U.I..
However found that my SMS not working.
As in I can only view the summary page but when I tap into the message to reply, all's blank..

Tries sending a test sms out but it shows "Could not send"

Anyone can help on this?

Tried:
1) Hard Reset
2) Clear Data; Force Stop; Disable then Enable the app
But still same.

Needless to say abt restoring frm Backup as it states diff format thus nt supported..

Idle drain seems to be lesser. Battery life seems better after lollipop upgrade...

Perhaps you can try using another SMS app to see if the same problem persists. If not, then it's the default app issue. If so, then it's your messages that may be corrupted.

Had use PC Companion to to repair.

Strangely whilst still in new reset mode, sms is working.

Doing restore frm back up now.

Fingers, toes & hairs cross...

sadly, other than the sms working after factory reset via ***, after restoring frm backup it failed again..

happened to me whilst I was updating another old sony xperia phone.
cant rmber much details abt then, iirc Sony release another update to patch the prob..

how did u backup ur sms?

wanna rollback to kit kat then use sms backup & restore app to backup ur sms
then restore after updating to lollipop?

I suspect he used the backup and restore function in PC Companion. It's not very reliable.

But just curious though. So far what is the biggest con you guys have encountered, and regretted the updating? My biggest fear is lag and the overheating issue. If these 2 are worse after update, I think i may hold back first...

It is an overall positive update.

Phone became smoother, battery life seems better.

Some interface changes.

No more silent in quick settings, unable to set default email address sent from email client...

Restore back your sms. Use sms backup and restore app to backup your smses to sd card.

Repair your phone's firmware.

Use sms backup and restore to restore your sms. Should be working after that.

Had gone ahead to use built in Backup & Restore app & backup the phone's app sans the SMS app.

Did a FDR & restore everything else except SMS.

& use a fully new SMS frm nw...
