I've update my Xperia Z to 5.0.2 yesterday.
All seems fine, no qualms abt new U.I..
However found that my SMS not working.
As in I can only view the summary page but when I tap into the message to reply, all's blank..
Tries sending a test sms out but it shows "Could not send"
Anyone can help on this?
Tried:
1) Hard Reset
2) Clear Data; Force Stop; Disable then Enable the app
But still same.
Needless to say abt restoring frm Backup as it states diff format thus nt supported..

Maybe try to use *** to repair the firmware?
Perhaps you can try using another SMS app to see if the same problem persists. If not, then it's the default app issue. If so, then it's your messages that may be corrupted.
how did u backup ur sms?sadly, other than the sms working after factory reset via ***, after restoring frm backup it failed again..
happened to me whilst I was updating another old sony xperia phone.
cant rmber much details abt then, iirc Sony release another update to patch the prob..

I suspect he used the backup and restore function in PC Companion. It's not very reliable.
wanna go back to kitkat and try restoring from backup?Initial back up via hp's app prior to update.
Subsequently after booting up frm update, all seems well.
Until last night then found SMS not working.
Called M1 bt they cant be of any help, only direct me to Sony Call Ctr..
Just nw used *** to repair(but backup via hp app before I start) & I regretted it.
Similar to Factory Reset, all back to default.
However SMS was working when I tested it, only to fail again after restoring from the backup app.
Using 3rd party SMS apps lets me view & send frm nw, but I still cant send..
Point to note, I wasnt able to restore anything backed up frm Kitkat.
2nd time I encounter SMS problems after updating of OS...
Previously was on Xperia S when rolling JB...
shitty day..

There arent many reviews for Z updating to lollipop, probably most users all have upgraded to newer models le.
But just curious though. So far what is the biggest con you guys have encountered, and regretted the updating? My biggest fear is lag and the overheating issue. If these 2 are worse after update, I think i may hold back first...![]()
I did backed up before updating.
Things is, even backed up frm kitkat, it is unopenable in lollipop.
Sh!t still happened.
Ok. Sorry if you have said this before.
So can I confirm if all your previous smses are back after restoring?
If yes, use another 3rd party app to backup your smses and repair firmware.
Use 3rd party app to restore sms.
It only works w/o the stored messages after a full FDR/*** Repair,
thereafter if restore the SMS app frm the Backup/Restore app, it doesnt work again.
Did used 3rd party apps, can view individual messages bt still unable to send/receive.
Called Sony CS just nw, was told the SMS app is corrupted thus causing the problem.
Only way was to Backup w/o the SMS app, do the FDR again, then Restore the rest of apps.
However all previous SMS gone & start it afresh.
I told the CS to feedback to Sony HQ & they are consolidating to fdbk nw.
& strangely, mine is the first case here...
@ least, it works nw..
Waiting for Z4........
Ok. I tell you what.
Might be troublesome.
Restore back your sms. Use sms backup and restore app to backup your smses to sd card.
Repair your phone's firmware.
Use sms backup and restore to restore your sms. Should be working after that.
