Suggest that u verify with seller before jumping the gun. The $238 set seems strange. 2Ghz processor with only 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM??! Typically, its either 1.6Ghz processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM or 2Ghz processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. There is another higher spec model with a 32GB ROM which will probably be introduced at a later date.

So should we go for $199 local set lower specs or $238 export set better specs?

the actual specification is printed on the reverse side of the box in very fine print. Ask the seller to get you a good photo.

No idea. But 7" has landed in Challenger . 7" dual SIM with ZenUI.( Model FE170CG). $219 if you are a member. Its a FonePad though.

There's no local set yet.probably just a local guy bring in from china and sell to you.no local warranty.
Both are china sets i believe.might as well pay a bit more for higher specs rather then next time complain ROM not enough,very slow etc..

Can it update over the air, or must download to PC or phone then manually update ?

Actually, there are already quite a few updates since the phone was launched in Taiwan and China.

If u have been using a local set from Malaysia, Taiwan, etc., u will receive the update OTA. For my set purchased from China and converted to international ROM, i have to update it manually. Once the phone has been converted to international ROM, the next update is easy. Just download the updated international ROM file and place it in the root directory of the phone. The phone will detect the new ROM file and update accordingly.

did u purchase your set off aliexpress? I am interested in the zenfone 6 and i saw some for $240 USD on aliexpress. However no paypal protection, so a bit worried.
Ebay has a guy from taiwan selling from 260ish USD to 299 USD ( think shipping has to add in).

No, a friend in China bought it for me and shipped it over to Singapore.

U can find a number of sellers from Taobao which offers forwarding service to Singapore. Register an account online and u can get one easily (as long as u can read chinese!). The forwarding service is quite quick, around 6-7 days to reach Singapore from date of order.
