Zenfone 5 Review

Hello all.

Hand too itchy and got myself the Zenfone 5 1gb version from someone.

First looks, phone looks GOOD. I currently own the Asus Padfone2 and Samsung S3. Other android phones I own would be Motorola MS2, ThL w100, W8 Beyond, HTC Desire Z. To me, the Zenfone 5 looks sexier

First time powered up, the zenfone 5 has a straight forward setup. The moment it boot up, i was advised to update it and true enough, the update popped up and I updated it. UI is simple and smooth. Feels much better than the crap Samsung UI.


First thing i installed was Antutu benchmark. The latest version,
S3 LTE scored 14433 maybe cause phone has lots of rubbish
Padfone2 scored 19429
Zenfone 5 scored 19783

Phew. Sluggish ? Naah. I find that the battery life is slightly better than the S3 LTE. One thing missing on the Zenfone 5 is the LTE. But I can live with it.

Somehow like the Padfone2, the Zenfone 5's camera is pretty awesome. Low light capability is best used with a tripod to reduce handshake.

The downside. Home button, back button are not lit up as compared to the Padfone2 and S3. however, you'll get used to it. Have to remember, unlike Samsung the back button is on the left, not right.

Sorry, not much of a review right ? Lol .

Should you buy it ? Depends on person. It doesnt feel like a cheap phone. Quality is there. Speaker is Normal as in average..

I preordered 1. Gonna give it to my gf. Might wanna buy another 1 for a friend.. Depends if she wants it. It's currently my main phone. Oh yeas, i prefer this phone clarity compared to S3. You can also voice record conversations

build in battery in ASUS Zen 5

so for those already using it. hows the battery life?

Was wondering if the build in battery is a disadvantage, deal breaker compared to the redmi which has a removable battery. Most build in batteries can last for a couple of years but I tend to use my phone for more than that. Would that be a problem for me? Appreciate any advise as still deciding between the redmi and zen 5. many thanks.

Not too bad actually. Comparing with my Sony Xperia ZL, i'm getting a longer usage time with the ZF5.
