Hi thanks for your insight. Looks like i might be getting the phone afterall.

The reduction in clockspeed for CPU is not as important compared to the reduction in RAM and storage space... but still at $199 its a good deal.

But of course, at $249 i will look elsewhere, especially with the Xiaomi Note coming soon which blows both out of the water.
Yah. At $249, Asus better give us the upclocked version
XiaoMi note, i will reserve my comments until it is officially launched. Later hunger marketing.....

Xiaomi will no doubt continue their way of sales. Turn off for me too.

Zen5 at 199 is a gd price... (had ezprwss interst of 3units)
Redmi is a nice unit...but due to availability, it tends to fustrated buyers...there r places selling it near 200

Unless they over forecast like the Samsung Galaxy Watch, i doubt so ba..

I would go along the lines of

$199 to clear stock of underclocked ZF5
Then when launch
USD 99 (RM 325) for ZenFone 4,
USD 149 (RM 489) for ZenFone 5 and
USD 199 (RM 653) for Zenfone 6

Though it seems Singapore has a $50 premium when compared to Malaysia / Indonesia?
Going by the above prices, the SG prices might be $129 or 149 / $199 or $249 / $299 or $349
Going by the fact that electronics in ASEAN countries are generally similar in pricing, the only reason i can think for the the SG premium, is a margins issue on the side of the telcos.

If S$299, i'll ditch my ZF5 pre-order for the ZF6.
I'm still guessing that $249 is for the Z2580 ZF5 while $199 is for the Z2560. Doesn't matter as the Z2560 works mighty fine on my Fonepad ME372CG. $50 extra is too expensive a premium for my taste.

OH YAh. forgot
One thing the ZF5 has over the XiaoMi offerings is the support for up to 64gb MicroSD... Wooot..

One important factor to consider IMO is that ZF5 supports 3G on BOTH SIM slots whereas Redmi only supports 3G on ONE PARTICULAR SIM slot. If u intend to travel with this phone, it will be more convenient and less of a hassle with the ZF5. U dont need to pry open the back cover to swap SIM cards during your flights/trains/whatevers.

According to the register interest page, the only telco option available is SH so sld be SH exclusive. Also from what i read on their FB page, the register interest will go on till end of the month n the phone will only be on sale from next month. Telco sale will most likely follow suit(i.e. next wkend onwards).

Thanks for the info

Only Taiwan is available for pre-order NT4990 for 16Gb 2Gb RAM model.
For China, their website only show 8GB model for sale (Coming soon @ 799)
ASUS ?? Zenfone 5 ( ?? )

Also thinking of getting from Taiwan... but tried login and pre-order in Taiwan site, seems like only deliver to local sites only...

Register my interest in ASUS SG, but with ~S$8 more (ASUS Taiwan), i get 2X storage and RAM... very worth it...

Anyone knows if China's ZF can be used outside of China? I do see WCDMA listed in its specs but usually this is not supported by their domestic models. :s22:
