Should I decide to keep zf6, I will definitely root it and underclock the cpu to extend the already good battery life. Agree with you that zf6 is really smooth and speedy @ 2GHz & 2GB ram. :)

Lairon bro after u root riao can show the guides?:)

Despite the latest firmware update few days ago, still experiencing sudden "shutdown" of handphone. Pressing the power button or opening the smart cover will not wake the phone despite numerous tries. And it happen by just placing the handphone on a table!

My little investigation revealed that the handphone is not dead in the snese it could still communicate with the cell towers - calls to the handphone will not meet with handphone not available message but ringing tone. But the phone will not ring and display remained darkened. It looks like it is in infinite loop. Only after a few tries of long press of power button will the phone vibrate, then shutdown at next long press, then phone restarted in subsequent long press.

I really love the handphone. Hope this little issue will not get out of hand.

Update: Highly suspected that the "hang" has been due to an incompatible app that I installed when I just got the handphone.

The Super Backup apps supposed to help me transfer sms contents to this phone but not successful. Yesterday did some tinkering and realised that after un-installing the apps, everything is smoother and never experience any hanging till now. The last few days have been hanging a few times a day, really felt like giving the phone up.

Glad I had not. Will monitor for now. So if your zf6 has "can't wake up" issues, please check if you have installed any new apps. Cheers.

Only app installed after service centre was WhatsApp. It has Hung after messaging.

Tried with and without flip case. No difference. Don't think it's the cover.

Could it be WhatsApp?

Why not you do a factory reset and see if it still hang after a few days.

But you will have to use back your previous phone for whatsapp application.

The Service Centre DID do a hard reset. They installed 'latest' firmware, did diagnostic on MB and left phone on for 2 hours, did 10 SMS and 10 phone calls but could not find anything wrong. Said not a hardware issue.

I got phone back two days ago. I installed Whatsapp ONLY, no other apps. Then took off flipcover as other bro's in this forum had mentioned this could be the issue.

But even without Flipcover, the phone hangs/auto offs.

At wits end.

If you bothered to read through the pages at the asus link that was posted, it will tell you that the 299 is using the 1.6ghz processor instead of the 2ghz one.

CPU difference:
C600 - Z2580 at 2GHz
C601 - Z2560 at 1.6GHz
Everything else seems to be same.

if you guys noticed since the release of the 2Ghz model (A600CG), the sg website always OOS then they release the 1.6Ghz at a lower price ($299).

Something wrong with the 2.0Ghz model or manufacturing cost problem?

maybe they think 2.0ghz not enough demand cause of price. so cut down processor power and cut down price lor :s22:
