haven't used the 13R but have used plenty of phones with SD8 Gen 3 and have used my fair share of OnePlus phones. if it were me, out of those 3, i'll pick 13R without a doubt, especially for like my parents who usually their phones for a long time.

1. Chipset. having a good chipset will help the phone remain nice to use for a longer period of time and SD8 Gen 3 is the best out of the 3 by far. Good optimisations can help, but having extra head room in terms of raw performance helps even more. like just in case apps become more demanding in the future, or when the phone gets filled with more data after a while.

2. Good track record with software. My mom's been using OnePlus 10R and it had been getting fairly regular updates over the years. Currently on the June 2025 security patch. Plus they performance didn't noticeably deteriorate when these updates, both small and large. Still feels as smooth and responsive now. Whereas my dad's Poco X4 GT with the same exact chipset as the 10R actually runs like crap on the latest HyperOS. laggy, slow, seems like with updates they introduced/turned on some of the ads settings that I've turned off before, etc. It runs like a phone that is like 2 years older than the OnePlus 10R even though they came out around the same time. But that said, this could just be a xiaomi thing. Can't comment on Honor or Reno though since not much experience with them.

BUT, if you care more about camera, my bet is that Reno 14 will fare better than the other 2 (only one with an actual telephoto camera too). While they all under same parent company, they usually try to maintain a seperation between OPPO and OnePlus by making sure OPPO phones of the same price/category will have better imagine processing than OnePlus. lol. But for a mid range phone I'm not sure if the difference will actually be that huge or not though. Pretty sure 13R won't be potato cam at least.

I feel that my 13R has quite the potato camera. Lack of OIS in the telephoto is particularly annoying.

But I'm completely okay with it for the price.

haha, maybe my standards too low cause don't take much photos, so don't feel like it's too potato from the photos i've seen others posted. not amazing looking for sure cause their image processing is meh for anything that isn't flagship, but casual use is still okay ba. and the telephoto is like 2X only on the 13R. might as well don't give. just use digital zoom from main camera can liao. lol. but i'm happy to see at this this year most brands doing away with the even more useless 2MP macro cam liao.

i think everyone's experience and advice are credible one la. phones very subjective one and different ppl prioritise different things. so always nice to have more viewpoints. like for me i know i really not that fussy about camera, but then for some it might still not be good enough for the price. but yeah, i think at least they did do some nice things for the 13R when globalising it. i rmb ace 5 in CN don't have bypass charging, only ace 5 pro have. but then 13R got update to add that feature later on which is nice to see. not sure if they ever update the ace 5 in CN though. but on the other hand ah, i see the nord 5 info... the way the globalise the ace 5 ultra is a bit the processor downgrade so much. unless they sell it at a good price, probably is gg. haha.

Reliable seller? Previously I saw is china sets 512gb around $800+. There are quite a few fake sellers, especially at Lazada.

Anyway, depends on your needs. If secondary phone, china roms are fine. If primary phone, better to get global roms for less headaches as some apps are not compatible with china roms etc.

No charger in box just cable. I turned on and OTA and now I'm on CPH2645_15.0.0.821 (EX1)

a good test would be to go to the camera app and see if there's a telephoto i believe

Anyone having issue with xiaomi home app notification ? Using 1+ 13 and didn't received any notification from this app. By right i should receive notification when my family open & close the door. Already tried uninstall and install the app , reset the cache and data from the apps , battery optimization and notification setting all set correctly.
