Ok, maybe I should say S23U used to be top of the line, so my ask is actually more to see if anyone came from an S23U and what their feedback is like—which aspects are an upgrade and which aspects are a downgrade. No doubt in day-to-day use as a whole, the OP15 should provide the better experience, especially regarding responsiveness and battery life. IMO, BBK has good offerings, but they just don't pair them in the way I wish they would. For example, if the X9 Pro came with Snapdragon, I may have already purchased it. This statement is bound to get more heat, but yeah, that's the ideal case for me.

Thanks for letting me know demo unit is available at City Plaza.

Not that hooked. S23U used to be good back at launch. I wasn't really looking to go back into Samsung too. My S23U back cover came loose after just under 2 years of use. That's something that did not happen even on my older Poco F3. Then there's the noticeable degradation in camera performance and more recently, noticeably shorter battery life—even after a battery replacement, which leads me to suspect the latest software updates are the culprit.

I'm just openly asking for input/feedback coming from the S23U. But I admit I could've rephrased it better. I'm just trying to get feedback from any ex-S23U users and see what aspects they think are upgrades/downgrades. No doubt overall the OP15 definitely gives the better experience. Most reviewers complained about the camera performance of the OP15, so I'm also trying to understand just how bad it really is compared against an aged S23U from an user's perspective.
If can tahan a bit wait for oppo x9 ultra or vivo x300 ultra... Estimate coming out in 5-6 months lol ..

I hope my S23U can last me till then.

Went Japan for 12 days late Nov. Can't recall how many times I got myself "Camera Failed" or "Failed to start the camera" message. Everytime that happens, I need to restart the phone to get the camera to work again. Sometimes it just straight restart itself when I turn on camera. Not quite sure if it's due to the cold weather (0 - 15C) or other factors - battery replaced in August possibly or purely software - updated to One UI 8 before the trip.

Then back in SG, it happened only once since 1/12 but taking a lot less photos and warmer temp.

Let me dream about it and see if I should just hoot OP15 or X9P and live with it :ROFLMAO:

In fact performance should not be much of a concern with modern chips. Be it dimensity 9500, sd8eg5.

If you dig up more reviews you should be seeing that the sd8eg5 is repeating history when there is a new process nodes it is always the overheating. Then all the phone manufacturer will try to cool it efficiently by using bigger vapour chamber or use software tuning. So if I were to put it in my perspective, the dimensity 9500 seems better.

With performance aside. What other aspects are you looking for in the phone besides cameras.

I think you will still prefer Samsung camera though. OnePlus has removed hasselblad partnership this year bro. Cameras are definitely good enough in general but not groundbreaking.

If your concern is camera, try the vivo x300 pro. I'm pretty impressed with it. The dimensity 9500 is definitely not something you should have concern with. If you are following the benchmarks, it scores higher than sd8e5. To add on, sd8e5 has some heating issues this year as well, even OnePlus 15 has issues completing benchmarks initially till they tweak the performance and thermal curve of the chip. Gone are the days when mediatek chips sucks....

Samsung made it ugly with the S23U. Daytime 10x shots having super washed out or a white cast that can easily be solved by tapping the "Remaster" button in gallery. They know how to process it but decided to nerf it maybe?

Yes performance wise I don't think I'll have any complain with either. Just the old time preference for Qualcomm over the support on firmware and some qualcomm-only perks and seeing that OP15 doing slightly better than X9Pro in gsmarena endurance.

Yes. Actually even with S23U, I keep the light performance profile on and still more than enough for day to day use. Not that much of a concern but I might be contradicting myself.

If really must highlight other concern, could be the 55W PPS. Hope all brands go with PPS only in the future like Xiaomi and Honor offering 100W or 80W PPS and not proprietary anymore.

I should end my query here. Will try to get hold of the demo unit and test the Camera/OS myself before deciding :ROFLMAO:

Before shooting the power profile. All phones under BBK electronics accepts pd pps 45w.

However it is still faster than Samsung 45w PD pps. Dual cells with 45w charging. And it stays 45w most of the time. Better than Samsung's dynamic pd pps charging

Not 55W? GSMArena says 55W.

Anyway it's just a wishlist for the future but even supporting 55W now is very good already. I recall they used to support only 18W PD for anything other than their proprietary charging.

So far I have not seen 55w. Mostly constant 45w including the vivo x300pro. I have not fully drained it as I always do small top ups. But the lowest I went was 20%. That also max out around 45w.

But i digress. It is already good that they support this protocol. Proprietary or not.

And you be surprise. Even proprietary charging also will nett you about the same time and not any faster. Due to heat management and also due to battery longevity is concern.

actually, Oneplus has openly said OP15 only supports 33W PD in their launch video. TBH, PD compatibility has never been the topic they advertise openly, only mostly done through our own review testing with different powerbanks and chargers.

Like how i was able to confirm about 50W PD charging speed with my Anker Prime powerbank while @KeYoKe 's with his own Ugreen Powerbank cannot activate on one of our previous phone testing/comparison using OP13 (this was before i 1st was able to review Nord 5 series then).
For some, PD compatbility only came in later through software updates, unless the charger/powerbank supports the newer CN-exclusive UFCS protocol

Yeap.

Anyway so far my new Anker 250w prime desktop charger supports around the 42-47w range.

Same goes for my Cuktech powerbanks, and Hagibis 380w desktop charger. All around the same wattage.

Have not tried my uGreen 100w desktop charger in office yet though.

confirmed your s23u got either software or hardware issue. i also using s23u as spare phone for a couple of years already, it's still going strong, never had this sort of message. u tried factory reset?

looking back at the conversation, the S series cams confirmed lose to the chinese, even the S25U pics i compared against the Oppo Find X8 Pro and cannot make it esp for night zoom. So the OP15 should be an overall upgrade compared to the S23U. If compare with X9P, it's a super upgrade esp for the cams.

haha i also got my new Anker, but is powerbank coz my old Anker Prime 27650mAh powerbank (that supports 65W supervooc thru USB A) crapped out abit after 14 months (lucky got 18 months warrenty), though the replacement i been waiting since sending in in Sep, only for them to offer this new 26250mAh one as replacement. Its actually slimmer and lighter, but it lost the supervooc compatibility.. But no way i gonna wait aimlessly again, probably for another few months

It all started either after I dropped it, one of the recent software updates, or the battery replacement. It's hard to factory reset with my storage at 470/500GB :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I can't vouch for the S25U, but the S23U holds its ground in some aspects. But yeah, it’s showing its age, and Samsung has definitely made it worse intentionally over time. I wasn't impressed by S24U and S25U in any way either hence why I'm looking for other options.

From my understanding the oppo find x8 ultra never had a global release. Not sure if it would be the case for the find x9 ultra as well...
