Has to do with OnePlus filesystem implementation and optimization.
Here's my OnePlus 7 Pro running a custom kernel(arter kernel) with the latest upstream kernel patches for F2FS and F2FS instead of ext4 on the /data partition. Note this is a 6GB+128GB model so the speeds would be higher on a larger capacity model.

That was my initial suspicion, thanks for the test !
That's good enough...at least 3 times faster than stock ROM speeds.

But I need the bootloader locked on my phone so it's disappointing OnePlus is not implementing the F2FS filesystem on a phone that claims to "Flagship Killer"

90hz is more for video (must be high resolution like Full HD, 4K, even 720p you might not be able to feel the different) and gaming, normal usage you wont tell the difference.

I think you have it the other way around. It's more for gaming (for games that support it) and normal usage like internet browsing. 90hz does nothing for videos.

How does Web browsing become faster? 🤔 U mean like load faster?

Just bought the 12gb version from geekermart with the Qoo10 $80 coupon off to replace my 3T. Works out to about $460 when I factored in the Amex Qcoins that I bought.

It's more of a visual and tactility upgrade rather than performance upgrade.

As mentioned above, it shows it's benefits more so in games when the action on screen can refresh faster to show information more quickly to the user.

You should consider getting op7t if u must buy :o

Or else can wait for op8 nx yr for newer sd chipset :o

I don't see a big difference between the models 7 and 7t Sd855 is more than enough for me, I hardly play games on mobile so I don't need a 90hz panel. It's S$100 difference as well.

I'm looking for near vanilla or vanilla android, so there are only oneplus, pixels and android one phones that fit this criteria AFAIK.

I'm currently using Nokia 7.1 plus but the screen cracked when I dropped it (didn't realise I didn't replace the previous screen protector that cracked too lol) and I like this vanilla android, had xiaomi and Meizu phones previously, dislike the customised android by these brands.

So between getting the screen and battery(孙便) replaced and a new phone, I decided to get a new phone.

No chance to play with a 90hz screen :s22:

Maybe when this becomes more common in other phones since there is only one single place to play with op demo set... :(

IMO, the main selling points of 7T is the 90hz, oxygen os and ultrawide cam compared to op7.

If you don't care about these and value vanilla android, I think Pixel 3a/xl or Pixel 3/xl might be better choice. The older SoC will not matter to you, you will get fastest updates and best camera in the business. Added bonus of 3.5mm if you go for Pixel 3a/xl

to each his own. i find the smoothness of the 90ghz annoying. i reverted back to 60.
everything scrolls too fast and buttery most time pages just overscroll.

1+7 also got Oxygen OS mah so that's not a difference and Oxygen OS is pretty near to vanilla android afaik. UW cam not impt for me as I seldom use camera. Pixel 3a and 3 XL are good choices but new ones are more expensive, unless I get used which I'm not keen. The non XL versions have 3000mah battery only, not enuf for me haha.

In that case Op7 seems to be best for you then. But unless you find a good deal, Op7 and Op7t price are quite close that it doesn't make sense to go for the older model.

Root is a system level modification. For this you need to modify the bootloader by unlocking it and then flashing a custom recovery and subsequently a custom kernel. At this point rooting the device is trivial and almost always done as you have already jumped through all the hoops someone would normally do to "root" their device.

the sg banking apps have the ability to detect whether the system is rooted or not. once rooted, it will not be able to function. this is security. if rooted still able to function, better don't have any account with this bank.
