Something that I really hate about oneplus phones are the prices they go for here in SG. It retails for 669usd for the base model and 699usd for the mid tier model. That's supposed to convert to 920sgd and 1000sgd. But looking at the prices in qoo10, they're selling at 1549sgd and 1600sgd.

It is ridiculous that we are supposed to pay these prices which are on par with the Samsung s10+ for a supposedly budget flagship killer. And this has always been the case for All oneplus releases so far. Absurd. Makes me consider dropping the brand altogether after using OP3, OP5 and OP6 so far.

I already dropped the brand long time ago.. was a big fan but realised that the relative high cost of the phone in SG doesn't make it worth it when i can sign a contract and get good phones like the base P30 for $100, with 2 year warranty some more. Only thing is can't unlock bootloader for huawei phones..

who still uses microsd for their phone nowadays?

software updates > microsd support.

Why would you mix s\w updates with a phone feature???? Companies should and must keep on providing good s/w supports, regardless of having microsd or any other features not. Having an optional storage is always better than none.

Eh, hate the seller not the brand... Sg is not intended market for OnePlus so the sellers on qoo10 are obviously importing them and selling at profit.

The prices on Lazada official store are more reasonable, if you include GST and shipping costs. Still expensive though...

Wow... Don't u know the recommended retail price (RRP) is $669USD. The distributor are getting lower price than this in order to make profit. I never like the oneplus lazada price. I bought all my past oneplus phones from oversea(HK and US official website (all RRP)). Why are we not following the RRP? We always pay for more and get the same thing. Very sad. I don't care the high salary or high rental. Is HK and US salaries and rental lower? I went to new york, still RRP.

Yeah very stupid. They are not Samsung or Apple that have a full fledged service centre with some sort of reliability. New comer come in want to make a killing. For that reason, I am skipping it altogether. Might as well get a S10+ with contract and comes with free watch for way less. After all, the S10+ is still a much more complete phone if UFS 3.0 and 90Hz screen is not important to you.

The issue is that the market for Singapore is small. Usually you only get better pricing with more purchase. So the local distributor will probably not get as better pricing compared to HK, US etc. In addition, you need to include the 7% GST and shipping cost. With that, based on the US669, the cost will add up to around SGD1050. The price at Lazada is around SGD50 more. It is though high, but I feel still reasonable.

I don't know what you smoking but there is also sales tax and shipping cost involved for sale in other countries bar China (made in China).

The main issue is with the demand of OnePlus in Singapore. The demand for the phone is low. Such as OnePlus don't bother to push to enter the Singapore market themselves. Only when the company itself decides to enter the market themselves, then the pricing will be better. Currently is only those local distributor trying to get small quantities of OnePlus to sell in Singapore. Since the quantity is small, they probably can't get good price too.

I don't think there is sales tax in Hong Kong. And I did mentioned that the main issue is the demand for the phone in Singapore is not there. With small demand, distributor cannot get good pricing. You always get better pricing with big quantities. Unless OnePlus themselves want to push to enter the Singapore market themselves, then it is a different story.

Probably will wait a while more for the price to drop before getting. $800+ for OnePlus 7 is still on a high side given that you can get 6T at around $600.

right, "should" in theroy, but reality is cruel, Just looking at the adopt-rate of Android 9 globally.

Yes, software update is one of my own key criteria for choosing a phone.
