I got it from the OnePlus authorised reseller, it's china set but flashed to so called singapore rom as their official reseller. Previously I got an india set and that had 5G. Just wondering why china set has no 5G.

Mine able to turn on before upgrade to 11.
Mine is local set

Yes I have and paid for a 5G subscription. In my iphone the same sim and line shows 5g bit in the OnePlus no 5G.

Then yes, if you're already provisioned with 5G, it should show 5G already. Try also checking under your Network Type too.

Another user here was able to get the 5G icon - that was before the SW update.

Did you off the vision comfort mode ?

I haven't buy the phone yet. Still deciding between OP8Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Both phones have their own set of problems so I'll see if any problem is a deal breaker before I decide.

Nope no 5G despite going through all the network settings. Main issue should be the software not activating which I'm thinking why, since my previous india set had 5G out of the box.

I did however read somewhere that for OnePlus and Pixel phones, if the phone is not meant for a certain country in the 1st place, the phone will not have 5G which is restricted by software. I think it is a post in XDA Developer forum. Whether it is accurate, I'm not sure actually. Because the india set OP8Pro I had previously had 5G. So I'm rather puzzled.

For a short while I am considering iPhone 12 Mini. I think besides the iPhone's cameras, I probably like Android better in just almost everything else. :s13:

On a side note, the wireless charger is extremely convenient!

What about comparing it to iPhone 12 Pro Max?

I didn't consider the Max at all. I liked the Mini because of its size as I wanted to try using a smaller phone. The Max is too expensive anyway.

I am quite deep into the Google ecosystem (Pixel Buds, Google Home, etc.) so while I really wanna jump ship to iOS it can be a bit inconvenient. Also, iOS notifications drive me crazy, along with the absent of a universal back button.

Where can I find OnePlus 8 Pro demo sets to play with?

Heard the main branch of Mister Mobile has it -- I think they are in Geylang.
