[Ongoing Build Log] Project GeneXis

Introduction

My very first DIY PC back then in June 2013 was an ITX pc. Back then i did nothing but just gaming with an Asus 7750. I started out small and my entire rig was bought from t258jgn.

As i started gaming, the very first thing that came to my mind was the heat output from my GPU. 7750 DCUI was running at 80deg on load. I was thinking of ways on how to cool it down. The single fan and small heatsink would not be able to cool it. Tried various methods on how to cool it. And i found water cooling.

I then slowly move on to bigger stuffs. Bigger, better and performance components. And eventually move on to a beast MSI r9 290 4gb Twin Frozr GPU on Xfire. It is darn hot. And finally decided to WC it.

That's where i consulted Congrade07 on WC and where to start and what to buy.

That's where how i ended up here doing my build log/project GeneXis.

- Powder coat 900D to white

- Installation without fittings and tubes
- Plan out on what kind of fittings are needed

All these can get from Art friend. They have a lot of other stuff that you may need for case modding. And the spray paints there all quite ah tas wan. so probably last longer than some Flying Eagle brand from China.

Sandpaper they have 500grit to 1500grit.

If you're spraying your entire case, I recommend tearing it down and send it for powder coat. Unless you have experience in spray painting to prevent the paint from getting to thick in some places.

Enermax are decent for the price.
Not really the cream of the crop, like the Noiseblocker and Gentle Typhoons, but those are really expensive vs the Enermax.

Also, pitching tent to see your build too!
The parts you're cooling are very similar to what I'm going to have.
I'm also deliberating between a 900D and Caselabs too!

Definitely i will take a look into this. Cause this is my first time doing it on a pc. Have done it for buddha sculptures, not sure whether will it be the same.

Would check for powder quote also.

Go for caselabs if you have the money. Heard that their powder coat is good stuffs.

They perform well for that kind of price. They are better and slightly cheaper than Corsair SP120 series.

What i really love about the Enermax fans is,

1. Control speed for Low med high natively example (500rpm-800rpm, 500rpm-1200rpm, 500rpm-1800rpm) They have a dip switch to do the adjustment.

2. The fan blades are able to be remove without dismounting the fan from rads and mount holes. You can wash it easily.

3. White LED has a switch to turn on or off individually.

4. White sleeved cables.

I get mine from this place. Paints, sandpaper, some drill bits etc..

That's why I say the brands there quite ah tas one.

I got a Marabu brand matte black 150ml for S$9.90... Made in Germany and..... I just use it to spray my 5.25 to 3.5in bay bracket.

For cases you can consider the Silverstone TJ11 as well. I like their 90deg offset mobo mounting. Won't stress the mobo if you mount multiple gfx card

Hi guys would like some recommendations for places that do powder coat.

I have seen a lot of build logs and tutorials on how to spray paint the 900D and it is discouraging there is a lot of corners and things to sand off at the start. So decided to go for powder coating instead.

my loop with single gpu + 360 rad and x150 res took me around 1 litre exact. i had to top up slightly with distilled but it doesnt dilute the colour looking good so far
