Let me spell it out for you.

1. My family is worse off than yours, obviously.
2. You're saying my family needs the minimum wage, but I'm against it. It will cause others who work less hard and have less real contribution to get the same pay. This includes low iq and otherwise disabled people. Why should I be paid the same as them if I can do more?

If anyone in my family earns near 1.4k, they are very likely to get a pay cut if they switch jobs.
3. People have multiple reasons why they don't want 1.3k. Maybe they only want a part time job, or they are doing a job just for fun even when they have more than enough money
4. Down with PAP!!! <- this is your argument, pretty much

if you think the 1.3k job is simpler, then go apply for it lah

you think boss pay 1.3k don't expect a certain level of work?

:)

I don’t mind taking up 2/3 jobs if there is $1300 min wage, that is like $3900 weekly

Beside raising min wage, there are other ways govt can do much more to help them, by giving them more relief for their family n children education and also other more helps like workfare income supplement

Yes there are - Are we not paying (to be increased again) GST to help the poor? ;)

Why only focus on monthly salary? Did they forget that min wage can be helpful for part timers as well as in there should be min wage for per hour basis too.

Many elderly and teens are working on hourly basis wages despite clocking like a full time staff...please look at this category too...

If I'm not wrong, min wage under govt's PWM is pro-rated.

Are you seriously against paying low iq and other type of disabled people more (in this case a livable wage of $1300) with the reason that you are paid the same and you can do more?

I feel disgusted...

After taking into account Workfare wage top-ups and employers' Central Provident Fund contribution, about 56,000 earn less than $1,300. Of these, about 32,000 are full-time employees, or 1.7 per cent of the workforce, a "very small number", said Dr Koh.

lol isn't this shifting the goal post?

Only 32,000 takes home less now, but what if these 32,000 are the jhk pr, the vietbu ltvp workers?

The title should read more than 30,000 workers in Singapore earn less than $1200.

No Singaporean should be left behind.

Those with down syndrome, deaf and mute can work in fast food outlets, govt related facilities etc. They can earn more than $1300, same as normal pple.
